For all things Barrow AFC. Keep discussions civil and fair, we're all Barrow aren't we!

In the end the NPL did at the expense of another club who had applied to join them. There is a structure now for teams going out of the league. There wasn't in 1972.
Thats quite sad to think. Thanks for this info I’ve supported barrow for 21 years. It’s humbled me a little.

I seem to recall the state of the pitch reached an all time low when a Goole player was about to take a corner at the Holker Street away end side He stopped and handed the ref a huge patch
of turf that had come up as he was putting the ball down. The best of it was I think Goole won that match 4-2 ? so it wasn't as if they were moaning just because they were losing. Am I right in thinking the NPL then forced Barrow to play their next home match AWAY which turned out to be at high flying Northwich Victoria and they gave all the match receipts to Barrow and it turned out to be Barrow's biggest HOME gate of the season. Happy Days 😊

I for one was feeling more than a little uneasy with the new manager and him building a squad and the recent good friendly results. Genuinely, thank you for distracting everyone from the positive stuff going on recently and injecting a bit of much needed negativity.

Just what the club needs right now. The happy clapper idiots, walking around without abject misery in their lives can [SwearFilter] off! You’re not welcome here.
Know what you mean MIghty White and sorry if I've raked over the coals a bit. Its a bit like talking about the death of a close relative that you knew only as a child. The club is no longer defined by what happened 46 years ago and hasn't been for many years. Some would argue that the Vaughan era was much more threatening to the existence of the club but the early 1970s does seem more nostalgic by comparison.

When we start discussing 1972 its really time to start playing competitive football again. That'll test the positive vibe.

Like it or not 1972 was a watershed moment for Barrow AFC and there is nothing wrong with discussing it, although if there is further comment I would suggest a separate thread is started as it has no relevance to 'question for Paul Casson'.

It looks like the 5 year plan to reach the league is dead and at a recent q and a Andrew Casson said commitment had been questioned. Don’t get me wrong I thank them for the 4 million or so quid. But what next for AFC that’s what I want to know. Will PC sell the club give it to the fans or trust or supporters association? What do we want? There aren’t exactly millionaires queuing up to take over but what about a business consortium who’s around? In the Keen days yes we were fan owned but it was them lot who put cash in when we needed it. I think questions need to be asked now so we don’t end up in a mess whey they decide to go.
How on earth can you justify this comment?
What do you mean by "In the Keen days yes we were fan owned but it was them lot who put cash in when we needed it."
Let's not forget that it was Alan Dunn and Brian Keen who initially bought the clubs debts for £29,500 from the scouse scumbag and then found out that he had mortgaged the club, I agree that the fans "owned" the club as in we stumped up the cash, to buy out the mortgage.
You can ask all the questions that you want but it is incredibly naive of you to expect an answer, Paul Casson owns the company and he is answerable to no one except the board of directors AKA his family
We're all supporters on here. Let's leave the negative comments to the away fans

Doesn’t mean we have to pick now to discuss it. We need to get a positive vibe going...not more doom and gloom, there is plenty of that without importing it from the past, at the moment. It has its place in the clubs history and is significant, but that’s just what it is....history!

I take your point but if you look at it with a positive mind, that was probably the deepest low to which we sank, BUT we got over it and here we are on the brink of a new season with hope in our hearts! Bring it on! :scarf:
