Hate to disagree, but OK, he shouted and pointed a lot but at times he looked like he had never seen a football before.

A great display by a fit team playing football and scoring. Ian Evatt has well drilled them and it showed today. Refreshing and enjoyable to watch at last.

You can only beat what is in front of you and that is what we did. We also did it in some style playing some lovely football from back to front. I was impressed with how they all acquitted themselves today as we seemed sharp and controlled all over the park. Granite and Wilson looked assured, Brown buzzes up and down with bags of energy. Taylor does the tidying up well in midfield and lets the others play the football around him. Turner and Hindle both have bags of skill with the latter knowing where the goal is for sure but for me Kay was MOTM aside from his little scuffle in the first half.

That all said, Havant looked one of the worst and unimaginative sides I have seen us play for several seasons. Unless they improve vastly on today then they are in for a very tough season and will be heading straight back down. Let's see what the next few games bring for us.

Best refereeing display I have seen at this level for some time too.

Taylor in pre season games has had me scratching my head, but thought today hi did ok, tidied up nicely and plenty of directions given which we haven't had for a good while. I'd like to see him play forward balls a bit more as he takes the easy option when he could look to play a more effective ball, but that's what he may be being encouraged to do. I guess with all the squad time will tell and we'll see how they cope when we're under the pump. Easy leading when you're on top.
Turner looks like he could be a key player for us, some lovely touches.

of course its" easy leading when your on top." Same in premier league down to 7th / 8th tier.. and like in the above leagues teams will falter. why look for negatives when they are not there yet? it`s as if some on here cant accept a decent result / performance, and just waiting to jump on the band wagon of " ha ha told you so! " pathetic really, as all teams , and players will have a dip in form. why not just be happy in the now? negative beyond negative. Play a few great games then throw in a bad one, and by the gods, certain people will be tearing at the bit to have a go big time to criticize.! Soon get to know real supporters when this happens. We will all have a bad day at work so just don`t be too critical when it happens eh?

Not being negative just what id seen of him in pre season hadn't convinced me he was the man to lead and hold the midfield. Yesterday he went a long way to show he has a lot to offer.

Have been enthused by all the pre season performances, dont think I'm having a pop at anyone?

Fantastic day yesterday. What a game of football to kick start the season off. No hoofball, the ball played out of defence and some skillfull touches was like a breath of fresh air sweeping through Holker Street.
We aren't going to win every game, we all know that, but if they play like that and lose I won't complain cos at least these lads show commitment and want to and are happy to play for us. A decent set of lads with a manager who has the fans at heart. Do we need a player's lounge? Do we hell!!!!!
Winning the first game playing as a new team is a massive confidence boost and we couldn't't have asked for more.
Great atmosphere before the game, everyone meeting and greeting, especially our southern exiles who never let us down whether we are good or more often than not bad. Now all I need to complete the resurgence is for some Bailey's to be available. You can't celebrate with a J2O.
