Leyton Orient v Barrow match thread
Re: Leyton Orient v Barrow match thread
Firth was great yesterday, took it all in his stride (as well as one right on the hooter)

Further proof that sour grapes make for a pretty impressive whine.Legacy of Laurie wrote: ↑Sun Aug 12, 2018 6:25 pm Ninety minutes of play acting, moaning and whining from eleven well-coached con men in blue jerseys. One of the most distasteful performances I have seen from a visiting team at Brisbane Road in twenty nine years of following the O's. Yesterday was another short, sharp reality check of just where we are and the level at which the game is played down here.

Re: Leyton Orient v Barrow match thread
The difference of opinions on Barrow from opposing fans over the past two games is very marked.
The fans of Halifax (whose team is sitting in first place in the league) were generous in their praise of the way Barrow play their football.
Then there's Leyton Orient fans whose team isn't.
I know whose opinion I value.
They will come to realise that teams in this league aren't going to quake in their boots at facing a relegated Football League team. They are just the same of the rest of the 23 teams. Non League.

How dare we go to orient and try and win a game.
Don't you know who they are
... Its depressing enough being a Barrow fan at times but imagine having to watch orient not manage to get the better of little old Barrow

I actually liked this tongue in cheek banter, finding fault with his own team as well as us.Richard Ingham wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 7:56 am More deluded bitterness...

Not as good as the famous Grimsby fans rant of a few years ago but funny all the same.

To be fair to the writer he has lived up to his own disclaimer:Richard Ingham wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 7:56 am More deluded bitterness...

Re: Leyton Orient v Barrow match thread
I actually thought that was quite funny and more aimed at trashing LO than us. Never expect players, managers or supporters (including our own) to be objective about a football match. Those seeking the 'truth" will be sorely disappointed. He was right about their striker Bonne too who they seemed determined to offload in the close season despite looking by far their best striking option in both games against us at Brisbane Road. Whilst by my own logic I cant be objective either, I thought Orient were a bit of a blunt instrument on Saturday and generally lacked creativity up front. That may be the reason for Evatts "disappointment" as I suspect he viewed the breaking down of the game as a missed opportunity.Richard Ingham wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 7:56 am More deluded bitterness...

Be prepared for a lot more of the same this season. Evatts teams seem to combine a level of good football with a degree of physicality. Away supporters will only see the latter and managers, especially those who dont end up beating us will use the "well we are a much better football playing team" as an obvious defence as if somehow (even were it true) this qualifies them as winners. And finally when that fails we'll get the obvious pot shots about the ground - and we know we cant win that argument.
Truth is, there is no higher moral ground in the Vanarama National League. The bigger the club, the more illustrious the history, the greater the probable level of financial impropriety or mismanagement that has resulted in them being there in the first place.

Bad blow for Rhys, and we aren't having much luck regarding injuries. Hopefully Rhys makes the speediest of recoveries. http://www.nwemail.co.uk/sport/barrow-a ... 693f2cc-ds

Yes that is a bad blow- out for at least 6 weeks. He was involved in a lot of our attacking play first half and threaded it through for the first goal.

Exactly.michaelstreet75 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 12, 2018 12:12 amPeople were within their rights, me included to question his pedigree based on his woeful record with previois club's, i for one hope he does prove us wrong, but to come on here gloating after a solitary goal seems a bit premature
There are plenty of Ex-Barrow players who scored a goal once.
