I’m an old codger off the pop side and I wasn’t moaning. What a refreshing change to see a patient squad playing football from the back. We’ve played more football at home in the last 2 games than we did all of last season and we’ve now won half as many games at home than last season.

And I predicted the correct score

Totally agree. If anyone had been to the pre season games they passed it around at the back every game and Evatt just kept shouting patience. This is the style he wants us to play, yes sometimes it will go wrong but blimey what a ride it is becoming

It’s been a long time since I can remember so many people staying behind after at the final whistle to give the lads a standing ovation off the pitch, the only real shame is we are not at home this Saturday, could have seen a near 2000 crowd with that result fresh in the mind (albeit the game turned again massively on their red card)
Andy Firth was superb again, he’s making a habit of making crucial saves then us going up the other end and scoring. Josh Granite is a proper captain, you can tell he is just loving having been given the chance to play at this level. Hopefully Sheff Utd will let us keep Smith all season, he is the proper goal poacher we have been looking for for years
Whether this style of football will produce the same results on a ploughed field in the middle of December will be seen but at the moment it’s great to watch

I know the season before last we finished 7th, our best ever placement in our non-league history, but there was nothing in that season to compare with tonight. That's the best I've seen in years and years, not just the good football played but the total atmosphere of unity and spirit. Magnificent.

I thought Dan Jones (the only player left from last season that started the opening game) was disjointed against Havant, cutting inside and scuffing long passes across the centre of the pitch. Now, 10 days on, he seems to have grasped the slow and steady build up that Evatt is clearly going for - always looking to pass back for Granite or Jameson to carry it 15/20 yards until a gap presents itself. Love watching this tactical football rather than just turn and hoof.

Yes I am 72 and stand with a lot of 70+ lads and have done for a lot of years. NO [NO] Moaning from any1 near me cept a few near touchline who were all under 40. Playing with 6 defenders and 3 middle ,men in front needs patience [which is what i dont have with you big mouths who think you own the bloody game] and thats what the lads did and finally undid Chesterfield. GR8 win now sit back and watch the bloody game and not just one side

Well, I'd almost forgotten what a great place Holker St can be on a Tuesday night! A fantastic team performance against a side who thinks they shouldn't be in this league, throw in some terrible decisions by the officials to get the crowd boiling, 5 goals, 2 red cards and a deserved win playing a brand of football we've not seen for some time. Absolutely superb win

What a difference a season makes a set of lads that actually want to play together could be a tasty season , only thing injuries building up , but commitment to the cause second to none and it shows what it means only a few of us behind our keeper at full time and he was giving it to us fans you could see the passion breath of fresh air onwards and upwards
