At times tonight I thought I had walked into the Etihad and was watching City passing it around There were the same clueless "fans" not all, who can't get a grip of "proper"football. In all my decades of watching Barrow, I have NEVER seen football like it. Keep the ball, run the other team around until wel find an opening. Jamesons pass was a classic example, brilliant. Can we keep him? Granite again was emense" the rock " of the defence. Hindle , what a signing. Why the hell was he playing for some silly Welsh team. Little Smithy, pocket rocket.
Andy Firth, very solid. Josh Kay, what a workrate. Hate leaving players out tonight, but they took my eye. Also Taylor, hope he's ok .Superb team performance. My man of the match....... Ian Evatt.

Ive never seen a barrow team in my lifetime use the whole width of the pitch and move the ball like that tonight lovery to watch

First game I’ve been to this season, it’s like night & day compared to last season on so many levels. Thers a clear commitment from this bunch which is really refreshing to see. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a positive brand of football played at HS. Fantastic game of football.

Well, what a night. I thought tonight we could gauge where we are against one of the league favourites. They are a big strong team but what we lack in height we make up in guts and determination and a will to play for each other. We started just like we did at Orient, good attacking football and an early goal from that man Hindle ( what a find he is ). After that Chesterfield started to play and equalised.
A bizarre free kick awarded by the referee led to their second goal and you felt the worse. However, they received what I thought was a harsh red (tackle in front of me,thought a yellow card would suffice) and then they tried to protect their lead by making subs. Barrow showed some fight that has been missing in previous seasons and we scored twice to secure a memorable win. Huge ovation richly deserved and the Barrow public need to come to Holker Street to witness a new era.
Exciting times ahead. Well done Ian Evatt and his team and of course the players. Slightly worrying are the injuries that are piling up but let's enjoy the rollercoaster ride and off to Maidstone.

A wonderful game of football, and a tremendous home performance - my first match I’ve been able to see this season.
As good as anything I’ve seen over the last few years, particularly because the opposition were far from being poor.
Just a few observations - Granite seems to have a similar no nonsense way of defending, like Livesey did for us, but he came out with the ball at his feet quite often. Firth looks very good, not least his distribution - good attacking throws and at last we seem to have someone who can kick flat, rather than a hopeful punt upfield with snow on it.
Dan Jones - good all round play, but his throws are going to be a better attacking threat than last year, as they are flatter and faster - can be devastating at this level.
The whole team looked pacier, more comfortable on the ball, and they cut a decent side to ribbons on several occasions.
I agree about the “get the bloody thing forward” mentality - that’s not going to be the way, thank heavens.
It’s early, but so far very promising.

Superb team performance! fantastic atmosphere from a boisterous home crowd! Deff deserved the win. Best football ive seen from us for a very...very..very long time. Such a shame we lost Taylor... imo he jells the defense / mid.field together. Such a shame we wont see Steve Jennings for a while now. Thought he was a massive calming influence when he came on. Well done the bluebirds! Enjoyed the company of a chesterfield / Buxton fan during game. (think i,ve converted him to us. Chesterfield fans were a credit to their club i felt. And respect their applause for our manager.
