Shame the equaliser didn't come but can't complain as the commitment and effort was there. We aren't going to win every game but let's hope they can build on weaknesses and improve as the season goes on.
Sounds a great away support in full voice which I'm sure the players appreciate.

Maidstone will almost certainly not get a more undeserved 3 points this season. It was my second game of the season after Orient last week, and we were nowhere near the standards we achieved at Brisbane Road. We still controlled most of the game however, and had most of the ball. If anything, nothing quite fell for us in the box and we lacked a bit of imagination and cutting edge. Hindle should've scored first half but that's about the only time we came close. Maidstone on the other hand produced one decent ball into the box all match and scored from it. They had one other chance which Firth saved well but then did nothing other than that and never looked good.

I can't help but feeling today was an opportunity lost. Can't fault any of them but Maidstone were there for the taking, and we were better than them.

If I've got a negative I thought Dan Jones was very poor. Gave the ball away a lot, tried far too many long diagonals and his body language left a bit to be desired last 20 mins. What I don't understand though is why we aren't using his long throw at every single opportunity we get. We did use it at times today, but many times we didn't. I get we're trying to play football but its a huge weapon, possibly worth 7 or 8 goals a season and we should be making the most if it. Its half the reason he's worth having on the books!

I think the problem with the long throw into the box is we aren't a tall side to take advantage. I don't think we won anything from the long throw and if we did it didn't fall right.

Yes, its a valuable weapon to have, but last season it was over used, the opposition expected it and were ready for it every time. This season I have noted more variation, mixing it up long, medium, short. Also he seems to have made the long throw flatter not so high which makes it much harder to defend against.

Very true Nick. But we're about a fortnight into this season and have scored once from it already. It creates enough havoc to get something from even for a small side in my opinion and should be something we use as much as we can.

That's why we need blyth back there's only Hindley & smith scoring this will give us different attacking options early days though!

Narrow margins and all that, but goals win games. We had chances first half the best of those falling to Jack Hindle who's best effort of three was just wide and Luke Burgess who didn't quite connect correctly and his tame shot was gathered by the home keeper. Second half we just couldn't make enough inroads into the Maidstone final third.
Still played some encouraging stuff in the main but not quite up there with the previous two performances which probably took their toll on what is still a small squad with the injuries we have at present.

Yes.

I didn't see today's game but most of the goals we have conceded in the previous games might have been avoided by tighter marking at the back, someting the manger will have noted and be workign upon.

Funny sort of game. We tried to play football and sometimes it came off and other times it didn't.

So often we made great inroads with a nice sweeping cross-field pass only for our touch to let us down. Seems like we need to be that little bit more relaxed and composed in certain areas of the pitch.

Thought Rooney and Taylor were both great, for different reasons. Brown had a good game too and Firth played well as a sweeper a couple of times to thwart the mistakes by both Jameson and Granite. Thought Jones had a bad game, but know he is a good player so not too worried. He just seemed to be constantly passing blind today.

Waterson, Smith and Hindle all put in a good shift. Great to see so many of them working very hard.

We worked hard as a team and unfortunately couldn't get that equaliser. I'm disappointed but not disheartened.

Not at all. We are playing decent football now. It just didn't go our way today. Keep the faith.
