Re: Ground Maintenance Area
No problem at all Adam. Still, it must’ve looked odd watching three grown men attempt a simple job....and fail miserably with numerous runs back the GMA to finally call it finished! Broken screwdrivers, blunt drills, rounded screwdriver bits and flat batteries
We’ll be having a visit to the ground this Sunday if anyone would like to spend a few hours doing a few jobs with us.
Painting, tidying, cleaning, helping to complete the third corporate room, finishing off the new pie/can bar, litter picking, a few bits to finish off the top foyer...the list is endless.
The Bob In Cafe will once again be supplying bacon/sausage buns - as they very kindly have done for the last month.
This could be the last visit for a few weeks, I think the last month or so has burnt of few of them out!
9:00am onwards, reception car park.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
I asked about the one that liquid was coming from the other day and I was told it was definitely water (I think from a hose) It has been checked again and it wasn’t anything other that water.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Thu Nov 22, 2018 9:54 amYer, just wondering if there’s replacement portaloos coming or what really?
We’ll check it anyway on Sunday just to make sure it’s ok for Tuesday.
Regarding more Porta-loos....no idea.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Yet another great shift put in by the volunteers. Whitty69 worked tirelessly, not even stopping for his breakfast break, making sure spotlights in the landing/pie bar area were installed along with other work. Jonty miraculously turning into a cleaning genius (must have worked for Betty Boop cleaners at some stage of his career). Peter (Forrest?) and his litter grabber was amazing and we all admired his thoroughness when we were going home (chauffeured by Exile---many thanks) as he had cleared Wilkie Road and upper Holker St outside the ground and it was immaculate. Then he carried his skills on to the kitchen. A great morings work with great results from him. IRVJ continued work on the pie bar but goodness me the effects of that Evostick glue was unbelievable, even spreading into the bar area where Jonty suddenly belted out BARROW give us a B give us an A much to everyones surprise. Exile happiest when he has a paint brush in his hand---players briefing room (players ex lounge area but don't get me started on that!!!) and the tunnel floor. Oldbarrowfancumback and Mabel his assistant daughter busy putting up various sponsor boards on the corridor. Big Al sorting out various issues regarding the toilets---like lack of toilet rolls etc---and providing hand towels and tea towels for the pie bar.
Les as happy as Larry with his new washing machine and back in action doing what he loves doing surrounded by piles of dirty kit, towels etc. Allan appeared after breakfast had finished as he had been busy beavering away somewhere and must have forgotten the time.
Spirit managed some painting which was impressive as he had been out last night--wink wink. Hahaha
We had a new volunteer turn up which is always a welcome sight.so thanks to him.
Gareth as usual busy with his ground duties and Ryan doing whatever it is he does, known only by him due to the Official Secrets Act.
Boylie turned up for a nosy---mistimed the breakfast
and ended up acquiring us a tv for the pie bar area but requires an aerial connection which is being worked on.
A visit by Mark Hetherington for a tour rounded off the mornings work.
Well done everyone.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Is this the same Mark Hetherington that used to play at and then coach Holker Old Boys? Not sure he didn't have a game or two for Barrow or at least had a trial.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
I think our next task is to get Les a dryer for all the washing he has to dry. He isn't going to be able to get everything dry by hanging them off every available space he can find. Not a condenser one either as they take an age to dry clothes.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
I agree, we’ve been back four weeks and Paul Hornby has been down twice and then Mark yesterday.
What people do on a Sunday (and during the week in the cases of two or three) doesn’t go unnoticed by the directors, once again Paul Hornby asked me to pass on their thanks to all the volunteers.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
