The train that Dover was travelling on got as far as Preston and was cancelled, this was at 14:20, so still time to get to Barrow and kick off 17:30/ 18:00. Shambolic.

Obviously feel sorry for the poor individual who lost their life. And also those that had put a heck of a lot of time and effort into what was probably going to be a very special day at Barrow AFC.
Luckily for Dover there is safety in numbers as in other games affected today so it won’t hurt the club one bit, apart from a revisit on a Tuesday night where they will probably coach in and out. Ironic isn’t it!

Shades of Barrow v Gillingham in 1961/62 when the visitors had travel problems getting to Holker Street. But at least they made it. The match kicked off late, but was abandoned with 14 minutes remaining - Holker Street had no floodlights at the time - with Barrow leading 7-0. After much deliberation the League ordered the result to stand.

Terrible for the club with all the planning done and lost revenue. It was to be a big day for us possibly help get our gates up going forward. Why would dover not factor in delays northern on the last leg to barrow are liable to cancel services never mind the very sad case here so should have been on the earliest possible service north.

If true that OUR club has bent over backwards and offered to assist them to get here albeit a later kick off, then they should be held accountable! Sorry for the person who has sadly lost a life but it is not a legetimate reason for the Dover team to say no surely? Feel sorry for the club who have made massive efforts to make national non league day a special occasion on the back of an amazing run by our team. Well done to the Dover fans who actually managed to get here.. obviously Dover don't care about their own fans..

Firstly it's terrible someone is in such a state that they commit suicide but also feel for the train driver as it will mark him for life.
Dover obviously did not allow enough time.
The Train Company would have a duty to get them to Barrow for a delayed kick off ,the club offered to help them to get here.Dover chose not to continue.
Hopefully we will contact the League and ask for the points.
Their bad planning has caused the problem and action needs to be taken.

we're NOT likely gonna get the 3 points. If this has ever happened before, in the English League system, please enlighten me. I could be wrong, but I would be extremely surprised if we were handed the points for this fixture.

When travelling with exiles from SE the latest train we would get out of Euston was 0830.

Any later is asking for trouble. Fault lies totally with Dover

They wouldn't have been able to get a train back today. That will be another factor.

We are feeling this more than Dover though and with only one home game coming up in October- FA cup game on 19th, it’s a long wait until the next home league game- Sat Nov 2nd.

Let’s hope they can rearrange the fixture soon, rather than leave it to the back end of the season when there may be a fixture pile up for other reasons. We want this game sooner. Preferably this month.

When we have to play them again make our chose and dictate to them, let the travel up when they have more than two matches in a week, or else at the end of the season when we could have 'party' time.

Absolutely gutted for the owners, the club, the supporters and the caterers...that money has gone now.

I believe our team travel arrangements for Torquay on Saturday 26th are for the players to make their own way to Blackpool by unicycle and then to catch the 8am donkey travelling to Torquay via the costal route.
