Blame us for what? What a pack of willy wobblers they are!Baxterj732 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2019 4:57 pm This whole day has been a mess, I do not understand why Dover would get a train on the day to their longest away trip of the season, with no contingency plan in place, the national rail service has been a mess for years! And they have the audacity to blame us! When we have offered them the chance to get the game on, granted a later kick off but apparently we offered them travel back, if that's true.. Then it saddens me massively, however I think we should travel in our 100s to Dover just to prove a point, not spend a penny in the ground other than admission but just to prove how an away day should be ran, I feel sorry for there fans who made their pointless trip but they should be looking at their own for answers!

Re: Today’s Game
Barnet draw level with Woking at the death, so Woking remain below us. Halifax, Yeovil both lose. Bromley still playing.
It all comes 'round again.

Blame is probably the wrong phrase but there original statement said our club were being abusive and threatening towards the Dover staffolbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2019 5:00 pmBlame us for what? The only threatening message from anyone associated with Barrow, it seems, came from a young fan. Highlighted by Anthony Jeffery, one of their players on Twitter:

Re: Today’s Game
I genuinely don't think the guy who sent that message was a fan, we all know that the original incident was sad and hope that the family and friends of all involved are able to come to terms with it in due time, but it's the lack of organisation from Dover and the unwillingness to go ahead with the game when we, another small club (financially speaking) bend over backwards to help get the game on, hopefully we turn them over both games we play them, like I said, we should turn out in our coach loads just to prove a point, I'll be going make sure of that

Re: Today’s Game
The fact of the matter is, Dover selected the LATEST possible train to make it on time, with only seven minutes to play with to make their connection. That's just gambling with everyone's weekend.
Horrible that someone died, but it shouldn't have had any bearing on this fixture.

Re: Today’s Game
Think the major issue with all this is the lack respect and thought towards not just Barrow, but to any club they are travelling a good distance to on the day of the game.
We all know how much effort goes into putting a game on, caters, hospitality, advertising, man hrs etc etc. More so today as well with it being non league day. To gamble on getting to games on time to save them a few quid is disrespectful to us and other sides in the league.

Re: Today’s Game
They should have travelled last night, yes they're semi pro, but they knew the fixtures, it's a mostly professional league now and travelling all that way and back in a day it's ridiculous, if you're gonna do it, you need a contingency plan, especially with our rail network, but really... Go to a game at the other end of the country by train, is it really cheaper to go by train?Moribund wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2019 5:14 pm The fact of the matter is, Dover selected the LATEST possible train to make it on time, with only seven minutes to play with to make their connection. Also, important to mention...
If I had travelled to Dover and the Barrow team weren't able to make it because they set off too late, I'd be absolutely fuming with them. I can't understand Dover fans defending their club.

Irrespective of how they are coming to Barrow they should give themselves plenty of time to arrive here.Baxterj732 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2019 5:18 pmThey should have travelled last night, yes they're semi pro, but they knew the fixtures, it's a mostly professional league now and travelling all that way and back in a day it's ridiculous, if you're gonna do it, you need a contingency plan, especially with our rail network, but really... We as a club have done all we can to get the game on and their intransigence has cost us momentum and a lot of money.
I understand other teams from the South cried off all i can say is bad planning

Re: Today’s Game
Many people have recognized how close the timings of the journey Dover chose to take by travelling on the day but this game could have gone ahead with a delayed kick off if they had made more effort to get here and been willing to change their return travel plans.
They were offered all sorts of help but I feel once they had a sniff of a postponement they grabbed it. I hope the fine they should get is significantly more than the cost of staying overnight or changing their tickets to get back.
There were as many people around the club at 13:30 as there are normally at 14:45 so I have little doubt this was going to be a 3,000 plus gate. I watched two large groups taking up the corporate facilities and lots of catering being delivered. It will be difficult to put a number on the financial hit to the club and how many kids will have attended for the first time while the team is in such good form.
Please don't lose to them when this game is eventually played!

Re: Today’s Game
I, along with others were ignorant to the fact that teams travelled by train still, I thought it was coaches and apparently Dover have chartered flights to long haul away games, I wonder if the next time they travel to hartlepool they'll cry off?Pedro wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2019 5:26 pmIrrespective of how they are coming to Barrow they should give themselves plenty of time to arrive here.Baxterj732 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2019 5:18 pm
