The club should contact Preston and ask to reschedule the Lancs cup game to make that midweek date available for the Dover game - and then the same Dover players away on international duty on Saturday would have International fixtures again. fairs fair after all.....

As for the costs, they’ll receive a full refund on their train tickets anyway
They're not aware of any of the facts, probably just whatever nonsense Dover have put out there.

No that’s true, but it was also in a national “newspaper” yesterday about the message sent to the Dover player which won’t help our cause

I think it's a good idea but from what I remember in the past Lancashire Cup takes precedent.
Plus I think Dover would have to agree.
Maybe a idea to play both games, mostly reserves for Lancashire Cup

National league rules

8.39 Where a match has been postponed for any reason, the two Clubs concerned must agree within seven (7) days of the postponement a
new date (which shall, save in exceptional circumstances, be within 42 days of the original date) and in default the Board is empowered to order Clubs to play on a date it considers suitable. The Competition Secretary shall determine the new date.
Any Club without just cause failing to fulfil an engagement to play a Competition match on the appointed date shall for each offence be liable to expulsion from the Competition and/ or such other disciplinary action the Board may determine, including the deduction of up to a maximum of three points from the offending Club’s record, any expenses incurred by their opponents, and a fine.
In the event of a Club being in breach of the previous paragraph of this Rule then the Board may award points to the Club not at fault as if the match had been played and the League table shall reflect the position as if the match had been played with the result awarded by the Board.

Interesting to see if Dover get the 10.30am train from Euston to Weymouth (arrives at 2pm) this weekend for their FA Cup tie...

Just buy two tickets for the next home game and tear one up, it'll improve the attendance figures too!

They argued that all their players are London based, that's why they couldn't get the bus from Dover.

Ha, well point still stands - they won't leave it till the last possible train again.

They wont get refunds on their train tickets as the reason for the delay was not their fault. You only get refunds if its the railways fault ie signal failure or driver didnt turn up or similar

I got a refund when a tree had fallen and blocked the track.

Unlike the airlines, the delay doesn't need to have been caused by the train operating company or by the railway industry generally. Providing the delay meets the relevant time criteria (30-59 mins, 60-119 mins, etc), then compensation is payable. As with Holkerbird's tree delay repayment (although if the tree was on Network Rail land it could be the industry's fault anyway).
