Absolutely against any share with the rugby. I wish them well but there is no way the pitch could take the battering. When we played Oldham a few years they had just spent £250,000 on their pitch after the rugby side they shared with had moved out. Now people may want a plastic pitch to allow this to happen but to me it is not the same game on plastic so I would sadly no longer attend.

Couldn't see how an equal ground share would work financially tbh, just say we get back in the league & the rugby fail to get back in the championship, surely our possible income would dwarf the income of rugby & so we would be the primary source of income, I would much rather all the money made by the football to stay in BAFC I have nothing against the rugby but that's just my opinion

Plastic is a non starter they are banned by the E.F.L.

For me it makes total economic sense to do this. You might find this as a shock, but there are examples out there of that it can work and it helps to push both teams on in terms of revenue and success. But of course, that is totally overlooked.

100% no. Couldn't think of anything worse than moving into a budget 5-7k all seater with a sterile atmosphere and a knackered pitch.

Holker Street is our home, and it has it's flaws but I'd rather we worked on ground regeneration than taking a HUGE punt on a new ground.

Both clubs have had their financial scares and worries aplenty recently due to mismanagement. Why on earth would you want to tie yourself financially to each other?!?

Should of seen the pitch this morning after 3 games and heavy rain this week.
That would not have taken a rugby friendly on it this afternoon.

According to an article in the mail, Theres a quote from PH mentions the fan zone is going to start construction next week with the lid on the Holker street end due in the summer, but if this “stadium of the lakes” was feasible then why spend money on Holker Street?

Most 'top sides' now have hybrid pitches - overwhelmingly a grass pitch with some artificial support. (SIS in Maryport are one of the suppliers - including for some of the World Cup pitches in Russia.) Not sure if they are suitable for dual sports use but rugby is well as played on them as well as football.

I see, thanks. I guess if it’s a serious proposal then there would be a vote on it among the board/ trust members etc and it looks like a lot hangs on the finiances that promotion would provide.

I just get a feeling that all the ducks are slowly getting in a row for this one; the BoD seem very capable, community based and seem to be on a mission. Holker Street should be radically changed by this time next year and we could be on with further upgrades for full compliance. Things are going so well for us at the moment that maybe an acceptable advancement in pitch technology and a proposal to merge could come about at the same time.

I believe the marras were going to be getting a hybrid pitch for their proposed stadium before the council pulled the plug. Could be do-able, but we’d need the pitch to stand up to the traffic so not to put the mockers on our style of football.

This is a really bad idea. At the moment we are doing so well it's a dream. Rugby league has always been the preferred sport of this town, IN THE PAST. The game is a joke these days. They have nothing to bring to the table. Stop promoting the idea it has no benefits for BAFC

Barrow raiders are financially finished, skint. Why would we want to get involved with that lot? They’d only use us for a stadium like this as we’d pay for the majority no doubt. Be some horrible plastic ground. Look at what York have moved into then you’ll see why anybody would be fully against it.
