I would be very surprised (but could easily be wrong, no inside knowledge or owt) if Evatt did find a couple of available players to improve the squad if the board didn’t back him

Evatt has said on a couple of recent occasions that that the board would back him if he thought it was important to bring someone in.

The problem might be identifying someone accessible who would add to the squad and possibly content to understand that they may not be a 'first pick'.

Paul Hornby has said over Xmas that there is a budget to support Ian Evatt strengthening the squad if he feels he needs to. What that budget is, I have no idea.

But we didn’t romp it and came away with nothing.

Yes, we’ve done well in the previous games and all credit to Evatt and the lads, but surely we need someone new up front to take advantage of the chances we are creating.

This is when we need to do that, not in a month’s time.

That's a very good point. Can't be many players of quality itching to be a back up.

Very true, we didnt, and I agree that we need someone new in who has that ability from the bench. Regards tuesday, I'm not saying you're wrong and I'm right. I'm just looking at it from a positive view in that Quigs didn't suddenly lose his ability to finish between scoring a beauty on Saturday and missing a hatfull on tuesday.
Where I think we're agreeing is that, when Quigley is off colour we need someone who can come on and be a threat. Harrison and Hindle are not that this season.I
Whether getting such a person is possible and where from, I don't know.

presumably the loan market but that’s for the manager to decide if he needs anyone at all. That’s what he’s paid for! :)

Two of the top 5 scorers in the league play for Barrow, scoring 35 goals between them one from attacking midfield. We have scored more than any other team,.... and now someone is saying we need someone new up front because our top goal scorer had an off day in front of goal.

I can’t believe what I’m reading last couple of posts, ...actually I can.
Still searching for the Young Soul Rebels

Just to point out, I'm talking about a back up striker to add options that Hindle and Harrison don't seem to be able to provide these days, not to replace any of our starters, who I've said are the best in this league.
If your comment was not including my post, then carry on. Nothing to see here

First half we matched them and honours even was about right. Second half they picked us apart really, our hearts and minds looked elsewhere. . Always harsh to pick out individuals as it’s a team game, they fall as one or flourish in unity. Understandable that we channel all we have into our league campaign, but hard viewing for those that did put the effort in travelling.
It won’t matter a jot hopefully come April, when party central comes a knocking.

I'm with you there jonty
Top scoring striker and midfielder in the league.
Both rested today

My only worry is we don't have any game changers on the bench.

Harrogate v yeovil mid week.
Just keep winning our home games and we will be fine.
Need to pack HS next week.
The team need everyone of us.

Next 5 games give us a great opportunity to pull even further away from the pack. Four of them are at home. Strikers back, and on form, and we’ve cracked it! As Whitty says let’s get the crowd back over 3000 as well. This town deserves to be back in the league and given that extra bit of support it can be achieved. :scarf:
