When we played Bristol Rovers we were housed in an area that had a canopy roof, its roof construction consisted of a heavy canvas covering, don't know about how and what holds it up but construction engineers and Architects will know more about that, some Rugby Union clubs down South has them.

I think having cover for away fans is a criteria for entry into the football league.
That is one of the reasons it needs to be erected.
Tests are being made for suitable foundations.
It will be the about same size as the old cover at the Holker Street end.

The club know about it, it can’t be feasible or they’d have taken it a step further.
Even if (even if) it was a good fit (a massive if) there’s the dismantling and transportation costs of dragging it over half the length of England. That alone would probably rule it out.

Its not an obsession Richard. Griffin Park is a ground that is being vacated in summer and that will have stadium infrastructure that could possibly be salvaged and reused at a cost saving to us, turnstiles, CCTV, etc. The roof over the Ealing road terrace is very similar in size to the Holker Street End and is the sort of stadium roof I hoped we would be seeing over the HSE- A proper, cantilever, full width and full cover roof, and if it was available at the right price and engineering, feasibility wise etc was doable then why not set it as a new raise the roof fundraising initiative for next season? Even enquire through stadium improvement foundation to assist with costs. After all we managed to bring 4 GEC floodlight pylons the ground in the early 60’s.

Other clubs- FC United for example, bought, transported and installed a complete terrace at their ground. (From Northwich Vic if I remember)

Kris Wilkes sorts this and BTW, without him submitting schedules, plans etc to the FA we wouldn't have got over the.line this year.

He runs a steel fabrication company and has a lot of dealings with local firms who will likely build it.

It's loads more if its cantilever apparently. We can't afford it.

I do know, not that I know the bloke, that he did send someone to Perth to get something pertaining to the West Terrace so I would imagine they've looked at anything that can be transported.

Timescale may end up being tight but as we've actually got towards doing the thing, after years. I'm happy to let them crack on.

Why does it seem so out if the question,

I guess for starters there would be the issue of getting London contractors out and dismantling an old steel structure in a way which would enable it to be re-erected, including digging out the uprights from the concrete terrace, as well as the things that have been mentioned up-thread (transport, re-erection, painting, would it fit?) to leave the ground with a second-hand structure with its best years behind it.

It is coming across as a bit of an obsession...

Fully respect and understand this. But is this not the sort of stadium project that stadium improvement funding is in place for. Other clubs have been able to build complete stands through this funding route.

The football foundation money? Yes we are accessing that for the fanzone and the new roof. But it is matched funding so if we can only afford to pay half of a smaller amount then that’s all we can afford.

When they were admitted to the league Accrington had the old cowshed down the side which could if needed provide 500 seats undercover.

And the seats in half the New stand at Macclesfield would give you well in excess of 500.
