I remember this game as the one where they walked the Histon 3 down the pitch at half time to meet the Barrow fans. The guy walking them explaining on the mic what it was all about. Handshakes all round.
The story was the three guys had travelled up to Barrow for the Tuesday night game.
The weather was the usual Tuesday night of stormy wind and pouring rain.
During the match a lone voice drifted out from behind us in the stand "Come on Histon" to be met with heads turned and the comment from me "who the hell is that"?
Three old guys laughing and were told they were now "the Histon 3".
Then there was the old lady who was sung to with gusto
and cheerfulness by "our lot" not realising they were announcing her dear husband had passed away.
Red faces all round but she was brought over and apologies made and she was very gracious and forgiving with smiles all round.
Also the day I met YJO's grandad. I had dropped the rattle out of my pocket and he picked it up and returned it.
Strange how I remember all that but can't remember if we won or not. Probably did.
Yep those were the days.

Even when he’s not winkling pounds out of the Pop Side our ‘Virtual Russ’ is still collecting "Half Time Draw Raffle Tickets!” for Saturday’s ‘match’ with Stockport.

It’s a 50-50 and the lucky winner walked away with over £200 last week when we didn’t play Barnet away!

I’m sure we can beat that for a home game.
