Before lockdown the table topping teams in the EFL were Liverpool, Leeds, Coventry and Crewe respectively. If the FA/PL were to pronounce the season over and the aforementioned teams as champions, would it give rise to street celebrations in those major cities in violation of the current restrictions? Some sizeable cities there including Liverpool of course whose supporters must be champing at the bit to celebrate their first title win in 300 years.

Perhaps the FA/PL have already considered this, perhaps the Police and the Government have already warned the FA/PL against any such declarations? I doubt a similar NL declaration would effect the borough of Barrow in Furness too much as we are far too civilised, but a socially-distanced party in Barrow Park as part of our individuall exercise allowance would be a first for all of us I think. Trebles all round!

Most of that makes sense, but it's ridiculous that they want the same money distributed to all 68 clubs, just to save any confusion over who will be owed what. Translation: "we want as much cash as possible".

This money from the Premier League is great don’t get me wrong but surely they could have just donated the same amount rather than advancing next seasons money? Will leave a hole in the budget next season (whenever that may be)

Could they not extend the Premier league to 24 teams by promoting the top 4 from the championship and do the same from league 1&2 and the national league promote 5 and all top 4 divisions run with 24 teams with no teams are relegated that surely would keep the majority happy with a bit of restructuring and in conf North an South maybe promote top 2 from each of them leagues an a play off if possible between the 3rd place teams in North an South for a place in the national league played behind closed doors or could that not work if the feeder leagues below are not promoting anyone

Good read and common sense but procasstination is what those in power in this country are good at.
It's a case of not going out of business.
I know gate wise we have improved and are better organised.
Imagine if we were in the drop zone ,gates and finances would reflect it we need to get sorted but it's out of our hands.

Doubt whether it will happen but there is now talk that social distancing could last for as long as it takes to find a vaccine which could be 18 months away.

Jeff Stelling views probably come from the fact that he is a supporter of the game and a pundit as well as being more closely involved with the finances of Hartlepool. He's a step back from the more ardent politics of club ownership and so articulates the requirements for ending a league that is already 37 games more objectively and very fairly.

His views may be more reflective of some clubs who currently sit around the fringes of the NL play-offs and who could potentially make them if results were to go right, but where the risks of continuing to avoid drawing a line under the season are beginning to outweigh any opportunities that might still exist. This happened to some extent in Scotland this week leaving a very angry and committed "hard core". Suspect the NL will be the same.
