Decisions being made
Re: Decisions being made
more views from the Fylde chairmen here, speaking from his ivory tower. He thinks his team had turned a corner (lol) and wouldn't be relegated
Starts to talk about how the league should be finalised at 14:00 into it, and then mentions us. In his opinion, he thinks the financial situation is potentially that bad that 8 teams could go up to the league but then mentions in his opinion a behind closed doors game between us and Harrogate would be the fairest option, which would never work imo, as the game would be so big I don't see how you could stop some fans gathering outside.

Re: Decisions being made
Please help me with this. In a null and void season, and Barrow are invited to join the EFL to replace Bury, it won't be Barrow (NL) for Bury (ex Div 1) it will be a Div 2 promoted to Div 1, and Barrow invited to Div 2 to make up the numbers.
How will this work, and who replaces Barrow in the NL?

Re: Decisions being made
Big Fylde Dave’s changed his tune then, he said we should go up other day
Re: Decisions being made
That vid is exactly why the National League council should make the decisions. You have 26 clubs, all with different viewpoints.

And I'm sure Notts County wouldn't be happy in that scenario, Barrow are the only side in an automatic spot, Notts and Harrogate are kind of in the same position, a playoff spot.

Re: Decisions being made
Presumably either Swindon or Crewe would go up to replace Bury (Swindon have the most points per game but Crewe are currently top having played one game more)MisterT. wrote: ↑Sat Apr 18, 2020 10:31 pm Please help me with this. Re: Decisions being made
The world is definitely a more interesting place with Chairman Dave in it. In a situation that's already overly complicated he seems to wants to make it even more so. I like the way he is so visible however unlike the others who just keep their own counsel. As pointed out he's seemingly changed his tune on several occasions thus far based on what he specifically wants for his club. Might be a team owner but definitely not a team player. I'd be very surprised if his views pulled a lot of support within the NL simply because they are not designed to.Bombadel wrote: ↑Sat Apr 18, 2020 9:56 pm more views from the Fylde chairmen here, speaking from his ivory tower. As for a show down against Harrogate, I wouldn't be that happy with that idea if I were Notts County who could have challenged and certainly overtaken Harrogate at least. But there is absolutely no logic in having a play-off between two clubs one of whom is not even in a play-off position. If you stray away from the rules as they stand you run into issues with the EFL and FA. In fact I'm not sure even whether the NL has any discretion to vary the rules without permission.
The basis for any outcome probably has to hang off one of three notions: (1) play the season out; (2) call the season as is based on a method of your choosing or (3) void it. Decisions in all the other Leagues to date or declared as intended fall into one these three - rightly or wrongly. The fact that fanciful views involving modified play-off solutions are rising to the surface tells me that voiding is probably slipping down the agenda as a serious option and that playing out the season has been given up on (practically) by the majority.
You can see the inevitability of this process pulling clubs back toward the core reality of accepting the season must end now, that we probably cant plan for any more games when we have no planned restart date and that voiding has become much less politically acceptable. The frustration is that the NL doesn't appear to be managing this process proactively so be prepared for some wacky proposals being considered before this is finished.
Strangely its the wackiest type of solution which seems to me to create the biggest threat to our chances. I agree with Russell above that as long as the current rule set is followed our prospects remain pretty good whether it involves finishing or voiding. I'd like to avoid a free for all however.
Re: Decisions being made
Personally, I don't think we'll be seeing football at our level until the 2021-2022 season.

How will this work, and who replaces Barrow in the NL?
If the NL were declared null and void then they would not be in a position to promote 2 clubs to the EFL or take 1 relegated EFL club say Stevenage into the NL. This is in itself an issue since promotion and relegation is a key reason for the NL to exist. But it will be an even bigger issue if the EFL continues on retaining promotion and relegation (which it has so far declared it will).
Secondly League 2 will be a team short because Burys position in League 1 will be backfilled leaving a space for another club in League 2 which - I think we can now accept - the EFL have the right to fill and we believe fully intend to do so. In a void situation the EFL would be within their rights (via a vote at their AGM) to vote in an additional team into League 2. This probably would be us though technically the EFL could choose another club if they were so minded. Irrespective of this, team would come from the NL.
So null and void only makes sense for the NL if it does not screw things up for the more senior Leagues. It would not be clever to end up in this situation. Conversely even if the NL voided the season its aim of keeping all its teams in place could then be undermined by one of them (hopefully us) being voted into a higher league . So null and void would then effectively screw everyone up which is why this option which was seemingly so popular to start with appears to have lost a lot of its supporters.

Re: Decisions being made
Is there going to be a Bury Phoenix team?
Simple answer may be for them and us to swap places if there is. No relegation from football league. That way all the numbers in all the leagues are back to being equal. We get promoted to the league to replace the extinct Bury and in turn will be replaced by the new Bury side. Everyone is happy
