Decisions being made
Re: Decisions being made
Completely lost the plot now - too many long posts which don't seem to clear anything up for the relatively short of attention span. Is someone seriously suggesting Barrow would need to take part in some new fangled play-off scenario - a scenario which would need to involve the team at the top of the table (unlike the current play-offs).

Re: Decisions being made
Someone has the plot Redweb. Maybe we have just temporarily mislaid it.
But to answer your question all "serious" proposals that I have come across to date that do not involve voiding the season require the declaring of a winner. As far as I know there is no regulation in any of the Leagues involved that would allow for a team that finishes first (i.e. the winner) to be put into a play-off (i.e. the runners up). This is probably the reason that some are prepared to believe that this process is so badly messed up that it could actually happen.

Re: Decisions being made
I've found myself checking this topic daily over the last few weeks, hoping that I'll see some good news and a final resolve, now I've lost the will, the amount of time taken to decide an outcome is never never ending and becoming farcical

From what I was told this morning no ones lost the plot and it all adds up perfectly even down to the silence coming out of HS.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 1:29 pm Someone has the plot Redweb. Maybe we have just temporarily mislaid it.

Not going to go into detail just get but let's say meetings took place this week that wouldn't have taken place unless Barrows place in League Two was absolutely certain.

Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.
If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

Re: Decisions being made
I disagree, SB. I've read the Tranmere proposal very closely and it only specifies automatic promotion for any team leading the Division which is still leading after reducing it's PPG by the minus factor and adding the plus factor to the team currently second in the league. The proposal also applies to any EFL Division which chooses not to play the remaining matches which will almost certainly be Divisions 1 and 2. The proposal is not for the National League but in the first proposal option no team from Division 2 would be relegated but Division 2 would be short of 2 teams as 3 teams would be promoted to Division 1 with none relegated and in the second option Division 2 would also probably be short of 2 teams as only 1 team would normally be promoted and as Stevenage adjusted with plus factor would have a better PPG than Macclesfield adjusted with minus factor then no team would be relegated under that option either.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 1:29 pm Someone has the plot Redweb. Re: Decisions being made
The National League prepared to wait until the EFL is resolved (8th June) to make its final decision. Play offs remain a possibility and the Board keen to protect 2 promotion places into the EFL. Would want to follow L2 model of finishing the season with PPG and the play offs.

Re: Decisions being made
Whilst we are in the realm of increasingly strange proposals, is there is anything stopping all the various play-offs, right down to our level for example, being played as a prelude to next season starting (whenever that may be), as opposed to say in a month's time?

Re: Decisions being made
Well I would guess it would be very difficult to set a budget if you were moving straight from play-offs to League action as you wouldn't know what League you'd be in. Also players contracts would be very interesting in those circumstances. When would they start and when would they finish? And if you were going go up a league would they want to be on better contracts anyway?deadly wealdstone wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 5:22 pm Whilst we are in the realm of increasingly strange proposals, is there is anything stopping all the various play-offs, right down to our level for example, being played as a prelude to next season starting (whenever that may be), as opposed to say in a month's time?

Now that's a clear concise summary. The mark of a true broadcasting professional. Re: Decisions being made
It seems that this could be added as an amendment at the meeting but I hope and believe it would not get enough support. However, your point about it being positive to quite a few clubs involved in relegation and promotion is certainly true. If either of the options were passed it would leave Division 2 short of a few teams which would be good for us unless for some reason the EFL was happy to play with a smaller number of teams in Division 2.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 5:48 pmYou've clearly done your homework Russ. Re: Decisions being made
It's all very interesting to read through all of this but I thing we are losing sight of the reality that Covid 19 is still around and people are still dying.
Yes the Premier League is making plans to play again but it's by no means certain and is dependent on the medical situation at the time. I also understand that players who do not want to play don't have to.
