I believe that the reason why Ollie Bayliss is quoting 3 options is because those options are the only ones that actually affect the entire EFL and therefore the two alternatives would require a change to the framework proposal.

It doesn't mean that other possible amendments wont be discussed, but it indicates the level of priority afforded. As suggested earlier the Stevenage issue may be wrapped up inside the Barnsley proposal though I suspect the main reason for wanting to discuss this issue will be more to do with the concerns by Championship clubs about the Premier Leagues willingness to relegate 3 teams than it will be to respond to the plight of any one team.

It feels like the EFL approach is - it must be the same for all or not at all. I'm sure the addition of - it must also be on merit - will quickly follow. More evidence of the EFL closing down the potential scope for discussion and of their intention to control the agenda.

He quotes all of them

The clubs will vote on the 3 main policies which are the Suggested EFL framework

The Barnsley request of no relegations anywhere

The Tranmere PPG with margin of error.

The other 3 which he quotes on the tweet below are all additions to the EFL framework

Lincoln’s suggestion of teams with point deductions have their points deducted From their PPG total

Stevenages request of no relegation from League 2

Ipswich’s request of expanding the League One Playoffs

Firstly, would it be particularly churlish of me if I were to suggest that the source for that entire story was Stevenage itself?

Secondly I was actually unaware as per this story that Stevenage were proposing two up from the NL but with no L2 relegation making 25 teams in League 2 which as far as I can recall is not allowed for in the EFLs articles of association.

Thirdly in all these tales of hardship there doesn't seem to be any mention of the £0.5million parachute payment that Stevenage would qualify for next season.

Fourthly there are a number of sides in L2 that have already furloughed their own staff (playing/non-playing) so that cant really be used as a basis for questioning the NLs ability to start next season.

And lastly whilst we all understand that relegation involves a requirement to cut budgets and costs, the loss of revenue that would accrue from relegation from the Championship to L1 or L1 to L2 is significantly higher.

Oh and has it been mentioned that Stevenage won 3 out of 36 league games during the season and were it not for Macclesfields points deduction would be double digit numbers behind the next worst team?

But compared with £1.2 million? Maybe there is a need to increase that 0.5m - everyone has their price.

Ironical if we go up and Stevenage come down as last time we played them was in the FA Trophy and surprisingly beat them they then went up to FL.
Graham Westley is back for a second time as Manager.
I just hope we do not get stiffed

Westley got sacked earlier this season, he’s been blamed by a lot of Stevenage supporters for them being in the state they are

Stevenage manager is Alex Revell. Since Stevenage have just pinched Lennie Lawrence from Newport County to work with the Stevenage Manager next season, I cant imagine they are that short of a few quid. It has been mentioned that one of Stevenage's aims is to try and squeeze some more money out of the EFL if they do have to go down.

Even if it is decided that relegation will happen from League Two they probably won’t be able to say who that team is until they sort out the Macclesfield situation

Unless they can find a new owner with both the type of assets of the Stevenage owner and a willingness to use them and can charm an independent tribunal I think it will be Macclesfield. Their ongoing strategy for trying to last the season out has encountered the perfect storm in coronavirus and has presented the EFL with an opportunity to do something that it would normally find difficult if not too distasteful to do.

But do we really care as long as they approve two up?

Absolutely SB. During all of the meetings and discussions, has it been decided how Bury will be replaced, with them being in league 1 when they folded this slightly confuses the regular number of teams promoted, relegated.

Under the EFL framework there would be 4 teams promoted from League 2 (3 automatic and 1 play off) with just 3 teams relegated from League One
That would restore League One to 24 teams

If you are going to quote me, please do the courtesy of my whole post, not just your selection. Don’t really get your presumptuous and aggressive attitude, when we are “all supposed to be Barrow on here’, so I’ve given up on you. Really don’t like your “I know best” attitude either, when you clearly don’t. You mentioned herd immunity as being a way forward re the plague, when no one in the whole world has been able to say whether you can catch the virus more than once. Just like a cold or the flu, eh? Think that one through. You presume I’m scared of the virus - I am not for myself. I am scared of catching It and passing it on to someone else/others. Your reckless attitude is a danger because the don’t care mentality could easily cause a spike, and then you are responsible for it being longer and longer before we can safely go back to HS, amongst a whole host of other things. To presume I support the government in what is happening and how they are are dealing with things is an errant mistake on your part, but ergo that doesn’t make me a raging militaristic lefty either.
If you still don't believe me about how relevant age, as well as other factors, are I suggest you have a watch of one of the SAGE guys, Sir David Spiegelhalter, on the BBC News Channel this morning whose job title basically means he's in charge of putting lots of meaningless figures into ones the man on the street can understand which he does very well for instance what do you think is the average age of death from coronavirus? It is in fact 81 in Males and 85 in Females i.m pretty sure I.ve never heard Bris or his lacky tell you that and he will also tell you what I.ve been trying to get across to you in that if you're aged under 45 your personal chance of dying from it is actually less than it is for any number of things we all do on a daily basis.

And here's the most amazing fact that in the 14 to 45 age group up to now the number of deaths is actually below the average excess deaths figure [ mainly due to Jan to Mar figure being particularly low this year due to mild weather and no sign of any significant amount of normal flu ] once again i.m absolutely certain that neither Boris or Hancock has mentioned that fact. I wonder Why ?
I’m not particularly bothered about you, and I reply to your post on here only because I think your attitude and understanding are genuinely dangerous. You, and people like you will affect my decision to attend at Holker Street next time. I don’t think you have the wit to understand what the problem is. You say that you wish to emphasise “if you are aged under under 45 your personal chance of dying from it is less....” etc. I’ll spell it out for you. The problem is not just dying, it is mass infection of others who need hospital treatment for an illness requiring intensive care. And then if anyone for example, under 45 needs intensive care because of e.g. a sudden illness or an accident, the resources for them are not available because ICU’s are overwhelmed. The problem is not just in this country but everywhere around the world. I did enquire of you how you would feel if you infected someone else, and there has been silence on that one. I think “spirit of 1990” thought I had a good enough point to post on here. You are a self confessed know all as declared in one of your previous posts, but you are showing that you have misunderstood yourself. As an example, your point about colds and flu as some form of herd immunity is just plain wrong, because we all know you can get a cold or the flu more than once. Also cherry picking one persons opinion because it fits your own point of view doesn’t make for a strong argument. I dare say others on here are getting bored with this interchange, and if the moderators wish it to stop, then fair enough.

And the other thing they fail to mention is that I believe all but one of their players are out of contract on June 30th so with their half-million sat in the bank and no wages to pay i.d say they would start the new NL season [whenever that was ] in a much better position than most of the existing non-league clubs.

I wouldn't be so sure

Yes I agree that a sale would be the best result and Sealy is still saying he will do it once their league status is confirmed but I do think they would be better doing the deal now and making it going thru subject to the league status being confirmed but i.m told its the league that's stopping that happening which once again makes you wonder about their motives.

But to relegate a club on the basis of deducted points opens up a whole new can of worms n a Bury sort of way and i.d be pretty surprised if the FL really do want to go down that road once again.

But here's a solution that someone put forward last night You don't relegate the bottom team and promote 3 clubs from the NL [ Barrow and Harrogate and the winners of an NL playoff comp with all the games played at one ground to negate the cost of that ] The FL top up the money so the 26 clubs would receive the same amount as the 24 would [ the clubs all then benefit from having two extra games income ] and then over the next two seasons you return to 24 clubs by either relegating 3 clubs or by promoting just one. But the sticking point would be that it would require another AGM to alter the FL.s Articles of Assosciation.
