Re: Season start date
Does this mean we are likely to miss 3 - 4 games before we are allowed in the grounds again? (October was mentioned) If so I really hope its not Carlisle, Morecambe or Bolton at Home !!!!
Re: Season start date
Yes - going off current timescales proposed by the Government, it’ll be October before we will be able to set foot back into Holker Street.

Re: Season start date
Be surprised if that's the case. Most football League clubs will struggle without ticket revenue even for a month.
Can rock up to Asda or go to a wetherspoons with hundreds of people right now so reckon we'll be in football grounds by September easy.

Re: Season start date
Hope so as we could get a decent league cup draw that could bring in decent money that's normally in first week of the season

Re: Season start date
Why start in September if fans can’t go? If fans can’t go till October, why not start then? We’ve waited long enough to start again, another month won’t make much difference. Are the govt or FA going to pay clubs the money they’ll lose playing behind closed doors? Don’t think so.
Re: Season start date
If people can go into crowded shops and other indoor venues if they are wearing a mask, I can't see any reason why we can't have two or three thousand in the outdoors at Holker Street as long as everyone is wearing a mask.

Re: Season start date
It's about phasing the reopenings and not just flicking a switch and everything is open again. There's maybe a debate to be had about the order things have been reopened in England, but maybe not the method. I'm surprised pubs opened before schools and gyms (trying to keep this apolitical) but given that a lot of early cases were traced back to horseracing, football and music events, probably not surprising they are last to get the green light. The R rate is still close to 1, imagine it'll need to drop a bit. Will be interesting to see what financial help football clubs will get, if any. Would like to think it will be more than just goodwill of fans donating the cost of a ticket. I imagine it's a headache budgeting for next season given the current lack of clarity. And then throw possible local lockdowns on top of that. Dang.
How does it make you feel to know that you voted for this?

Aye, I thought that. I don’t see why they couldn’t wait til Oct 1st so fans could be in the ground. Start on that Thursday, then play Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday etc until they’ve caught up.Scrube wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2020 6:00 pm Why start in September if fans can’t go? Play the Rumbelows Cup opening round behind closed doors if needs be.
Maybe they’ve been tipped the wink that limited capacities will be allowed?

Scrap the efl trophy no one is interested in that gives more free midweeks for games to catch up and start in October when fans can go into stadiums
