I've only just moved here from Ulverston so I'm not too sure, I've seen a few people in shirts etc. And spoken to a few guys in pubs that go to the odd game, but it is a possibility definitely

Ollie Yates will be the man in the middle when Derby County take on Sky Bet League 2 side Barrow AFC at Pride Park Stadium in the First Round of the Carabao Cup on Saturday afternoon (12pm kick-off).


Yates oversaw 30 games in the 2019/20 season across Sky Bet League 1, League 2, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup and the EFL Trophy.

The official will be overseeing his first Derby fixture at the weekend, having never previously taken charge of a match featuring the Rams.

Yates will be assisted by Andrew Dallison and Abbas Khan on the lines, whilst Benjamin Speedie has been appointed as the fourth official.

Skipper Wayne Rooney, striker Martyn Waghorn and wideman Tom Lawrence will all miss the game due to injury. Rooney and Waghorn have muscle injuries, while Lawrence is sidelined with a shoulder problem he sustained in July against Leeds United.

Goalkeeper David Marshall is unavailable as he is on international duty with Scotland, so Kelle Roos is expected to start in goal. Jason Knight missed Tuesday’s pre-season friendly against Sheffield United after being called up to a training camp for the Republic of Ireland’s Under-21s, but he has been given permission to return to Derby in order to be in the matchday squad.

Summer signing Mike te Wierik is in line to make his competitive Rams debut after signing from Dutch side Groningen, but Krystian Bielik remains out of action as he continues to progress in his rehabilitation work after suffering a long-term knee injury in January.

Speaking to RamsTV ahead of Saturday's cup tie, Derby boss Phillip Cocu said: ““We just focus on ourselves. “We are playing at Pride Park, so that’s always a great feeling for us and we want to get off to a good start.
“The league begins next weekend and if we can get a win, then it will be good for all players for the motivation and confidence to focus on the next game against Reading.

“It definitely won’t be easy against Barrow."

Brough was out injured last week - so was always a doubt - don't know about Brad Barry as he played at the full match at Southport.

I'm sure in the opening link on Sky the presenter said it was 49 years since Barrow were last in the league and then the reporter asking David Dunn has said 43 years, maybe it's my hearing. Surely they both couldn't have made such a basic error.
