Some of those players need to rot in the reserves until their contracts are up - wouldn't give Hird or Hindle any more playing time, and Brown, Angus and Barry don't look like they can make the step up.

The mistake killed the game as Newport decided to fall about after that. Don't know if this is what all League 2 teams will be like, but haven't seen time wasting like that for a long time.

Bottom line is though, we're useless without Platt and Quigley.

With 20 mins to go, i was looking for us to at least try and step things up, but there was just no response which is very disappointing. Im not convinced Newport were anything better than what we faced for the majority of last season but we look way off being a goal threat.

What do you want the lad to do when the ball is booted over the midfield, there is no movement upfront and everytime we get the ball in the final third we pass backwards.

I agree he hasn't done anything but what the hell can a playmaker do when we just bypass midfield and then pass backwards.

Offer yourself, go hunting for it, demanding it off people, just generally not plod about for 20mins would be a start.

Don’t get me wrong we had a full squad of poor players today but his high profile arrival had people excited.....he looks absolute bobbins and will be at Hyde United level soon enough from us showings so far.

I don't disagree with any of that, except to say I want to give the lad more of a chance in a system where he is told (superglued) behind the 2 forwards and is told to orchestrate a bit like Rooney did last year.

I agree his high profile arrival had me excited but I think it's hard to judge when all he gets is balls heading over his head and straight through to the keeper.

I reckon come the end of the season you may be proved right but I hope he is given the chance to show what he can do.

to be fair to Dunn he's stated he's looking to bring in 2 more players, we're missing 2 of the best players in this league (platt and Quigs) that's not counting kay burns and brough hes having to play biggins and gribbin who've who've both had long term injuries also new players take time to gel give him at least 10 games!

The most frustrating thing is about that half is having 8 mins added on and still not looking arsed.

That should have given us a lift but we still looked so lacklustre.

Also so frustrating when the ball is in the air and we give away needless shoves when we will never get to the ball. We KNOW they are going to take 45 seconds to take it so just let the lad win the header and don't give any fouls away.

WHY are we playing that bypassing the midfield straight ball dow their CB's throat?.. OK to do it out to the width occasionally but we need to include our midfield as Jones and Hardcastle are good with their feet on the ball. This is a perfect example of why Rooney was so effective with us, but probably unable to play his best game for previous clubs.

I really hope we have some of our better players back next week. That was a very hard watch.

If we are going to play long ball down the channels we need to switch to a 4-3-3 so that we can stretch the game.

I m sure I saw Hindle come on in 2nd half,did he go off injured or get sent off as. I didn’t hear or see him at all.Dunn has known since he came that we offer nothing going forward without Quigley but hasn’t addressed it and put his faith in James and Hindle.Wonder if him and Kelly are astute enough to go and tell the board we need to speculate on a forward or decent physical midfielder that can actually bother teams.
With Platt,Kay and Quigley we should offer more but we are still light and will be putting a lot of pressure on Quigley and Angus to produce a threat.Too many players look like they arnt playing for the badge today.

To be honest our new signings are not upto much id say apart from the 2 Jones and ntlhe we haven't strengthened enough why we signed luke James I dont know and why we offered hindle a new deal aswell that budget could of gone on better players than them and gribbin isnt good enough if we have the budget I'd be looking at a creative midfielder and a forward ASAP lets just hope we show more ideas when the 4 key players return id still say we will avoid the drop but i always thought we would be bottom 8 realistically

Disappointing, but not the end of the world. Need Quigs back and Platt asap.

Very poor second half after going into the break on top. Lost all discipline and imagination. Newport, as horrible as they were, knew how to see out the game. Something we need to learn. We need to get our injured players fit asap. Quigley back next game will be a boost. No need to hit the panic button just yet. Only two goals conceded from open play in the last 4, and their second today was an individual howler. We needed a loan striker to cover Quigley's absence, not sure why that didn't happen. Very frustrating watch, that.

Its not just going to all come good with the return of Quigley. We’ve got to create as well and we created nothing second half. Nothing that would present a goal chance for a forward. Its early days and I think the side is ok, we look defensively sound (apart from the howler) but we've got to create more chances!! I’m frustrated as our goal should have been the mark to step it up but we just didn't show at all in the second half. The game was there to be won going in at half time.

That second half was truly shocking, as bad as I can remember for a long time. I can accept losses but it was the manner of the last 45 + 8 that was a worry, as someone said, even when the 8 minutes were announced nothing changed, there was no urgency, no passes strung together, we were all over the shop. Add to that the ridiculous fouls we were giving away to allow all the time wasting (not helped by the ref letting them get away with it)

I can’t wait for the players presently out to come back...we’ll have a better idea of where we are then. At least it’s only the second game in & we have plenty of time to work on things.

Majority of my £10 ifollow fee wasted on that performance.
