Newport County (A) Match Thread

Going to meet a lot of Newport type teams in this league. Need to keep perspective and wait a little longer then make judgments. We were in the bottom 4 last season after 7 games. Hopefully our injured players will get back soon - then we can make a more informed judgment. A lot of people on here seem to think they are excellent coaches. This team needs to bed in. Need to forget about Rooney etc as they chose to leave.

Not sure anyone is suggesting that, but psychologically, having your top scorer (from last season) and number one goal threat back, will be a boost.

What he brings to the team will be a huge boost too. Holding up the play, rolling defenders, winning free kicks/penalties and scoring goals. No he can’t be expected to turn the whole thing around but having him and Platt back to name but two will make a huge difference.

I do agree, but we cannot be reliant on two or three. We've got to have strength in depth and now it looks like we've lost Kgosi Nthle for a few games well. Lets hope he's not out too long.

Totally agree, stealing a wage, needs to go on loan to a national leauge club the rate he is going, not even interested in the slightest.

Not sure why gribbin is getting stick, looked tidy on the ball when he came on. Problem is the signings we've made dont seem to have improved us that much James jones seems the best and when platt is fit is an upgrade on hird. mike jones is tidy but I wouldn't say better than tom white. Beadling isnt a patch on rooney questions have to ask why we sold him. Kgosi does look a good addition him and brough will tussle for that shirt. The rest jury out but if they cant get in the first 11 says a lot. I cant get my head around hindle re-signing his wages surely could be used elsewhere in the squad never good enough for league 2. Hopefully when platt brough kay and quigley comeback we will be more of a threat. Luke james works hard but isnt going to get the goals, angus is improving willing to stick with him. Desperately need another forward.

Got told Rooney was prepared to sit in the stand all season, Evatt did a good job last season but again a lot going on behind the scenes and will get found out at Bolton. Glad the club got the money for both because the two of them had no intension of being here this season.

Sorry. Ntlhe is decent as is Wilson but out best pre-season signing by a country mile is James Jones.
