Be foolish tobtry and play expansove open football, we'd get cut to ribbons.
Fed up of people harping on about Rooney, he had one good season in his career and folk talking like he would have been our answer to Messi.
As for Evatt, time will tell how things will go but it's not exactly rosy at the minute.
Let's reserve judgement for now, it's a whole new experience for everyone and im sure they are as aware of what needs to be done to sort things out.

If you look at the Bolton match stats yesterday Bolton had 64% possession and played 535 passes with a completion rate of 85% and despite getting beat their fans are largely on board with what be is trying to do there and can see that it is the end product needing polishing up. Whether it works for him there remains to be seen. Our like for like game stats yesterday are nowhere near these figures and what i’m seeing we are playing a lot longer passes.
It's the right way to play attractive football but you need players who are comfortable in possession are mobile and can pass accurately. He seems to be a bit short of them at Bolton, particularly in his 3 central defenders but, if they give him time, he will be successful because a team who can play this way will outclass most teams at League 1, 2 and NL level just as we did last season.

Either by very good luck or very good judgement he brought in players who were perfect for his style of play last season as 2 of our central 3 (Platt and Brough) were very solid and mobile defenders and Hird passed the ball well. Barry and Kay were superb wing-backs and in midfield we had the outstanding midfield player in the league in Rooney with Hardcastle and White both very quick and mobile players. Quigley was the outstanding striker in the league and Angus had lots of pace.

He's brought in 17 new players at Bolton and I don't think all of them are as good as the ones he had at Barrow but he'll make them better and he'll replace the ones who can't play in the way he wants.

We all know Evatt has gone but strangely enough we are allowed to comment on whether we think he will be successful or not at Bolton. It may be of no interest to you but it might be to people who are actually interested in football generally.

Then such comments should go on the General Football site

Evatts style will work at Bolton as long as they give him enough time for it to work. To do that he'll need to invest significantly in players who can replicate his preferred style of play but at a higher level. He wont be able to do that properly until next season. Playing the Barrocelona way comes at a cost if you want to sustain it in any Division. Playing the Newport way is at this time the norm for the level. This will be the Rochdale way in L1 and the Barnsley way in the Championship.

So in Dunns defence, beefing up the defence and building your team from the back forwards is sensible given the type of opposition we will be playing. Its a bit sad really. The reality is that the type of football we will see will not be much different to the NL. The differences will be in fitness, game management and the clinical nature of finishing. Therein lies the true nature of Hirds mistakes. Not so much that he made them but more where he made them and when. It was the timing of both mistakes that was significant. The timing of yesterdays bloomer coming so close to the beginning of the 2nd half at a time when the defence should've been switched on is the most unforgiveable aspect. Any player can make a mistake, sometimes a bad one. The better ones tend to make them when they are least costly.

Give the man a chance. We are football league side now, with injuries to key players.

That’s mainly down the fact in this league you don’t have the time to play like that because you are shut down a lot quicker - clubs are playing us from last season at our own game with their pressing play which wasn’t happening in the national league
you're right but people on here are forgetting after Xmas a lot of sides in the national league started to suss us out and we did struggle at times!

Absolutely ridiculous question! IE joined us with no real managerial history and in 2 years we were promoted. BUT HE HAS GONE!!!! Drew against a quality championship side and since then have picked up a lot of injury’s to key players. We don’t have Liverpool’s squad so when we loose key players it shows. Can we all stop moaning that after two games we aren’t top of the league with a +10 goal difference. Let’s get behind the boys and the gaffer and put the trust and belief that so many put behind evatt into David Dunn.

Attackers: This is where the majority of your goals come from.

Mid-field goal-scorers, ie: Rooneys and Hardcastles, are a bonus.

We have 5 attackers on the books, yet in my opinion, only Quigley is worthy of a spot in the team.

Few on this forum rate James or Hindle, Penfold hardly get's a mention, leaving Dior Angus.

After Quiggs he's the main man. He is reasonable quick, but that's about it. He loses possession as he can't control the ball and has hardly ever won a header. He misses too many goal-scoring opportunities.

Numerous Clubs in the past 9 years since 2011 think likewise. He's had 21 moves on free transfers or on loans.

No Club has ever paid a single penny to secure him. Bottom line total transfer fees: £0. The stats don't lie.

We are in desperate need of at least 2 goal-scoring forwards, because the chances are we will concede goals. The 1st 2 games are evidence of that.

If the Club has no spare cash, we must get a couple of loaners NOW.

Every word you've said is true but I have to say Dior Angus has improved a fair bit since I first saw him at Woking last season and, without Quigley, he is our best attacker.

However, as you and Tomo have said, we desperately at least one of goal-scoring forward and you can get loan players from higher levels where their clubs will pay all of their wages so they get matches at senior level.

Blackburn have a great youth system as we well know and I was hoping that with Dunn's connection to that club we might get a couple of decent players from them.

Dior is a fine player. Was critical in getting us promoted.

Digging out Title Winning players individually 2 games into a League 2 season after being newly promoted. Embarrassing.

Yeah wasn't a great performance but we've got a lot of injuries and it's only our mistakes that have cost us so it's fixable.

This is the problem, everyone was banging on about us winning this league and after an average start is writing off every player and his dog. Christ when we are allowed fans in no one will turn up as half of Barrow will think the teams shite and under achieving.
Poor start, yes, but let's not shit our pants. Pick up enough points to stay up everything else is a bonus.
