Thomas Dawson
Tom Dawson scored 2 goals for Holker today against Crook Town in the FA Vase. Only 17 scoring for fun at holker last year in our system. Would it not be better giving him a deal bringing him into a full time environment letting him have a crack. The lad was on Blackpool's books and left on his own accord, scored a beauty with his head today. I'd rather Tom was involved than give hindle the money to sit on the bench and not even get brought on when we a are crying out for a goal against 10 men Leyton Orient.

Re: Thomas Dawson
Missing the point, a local lad with loads of potential. Not to go straight in, but to learn see if he has what it takes. He is a lad in the set up that could go on and play at a decent level. Surely that's what the development centre and u21s is about. If your not going to do it with this lad when are they going to do it and promote one of our own?

Re: Thomas Dawson
Did Dunn go watch the Under 21’s the other night out of interest?
Re: Thomas Dawson
This point should not be overlooked. Although not sure whether contractually things are different in EFL, the route appears to be through an academy.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Re: Thomas Dawson
Is this really where our fanbase is at? Back at the "lads in the local leagues would do a better job" stage? Embarrassing.

Re: Thomas Dawson
Let’s remember you’re talking about stepping up from the North West Counties to League Two here.
When you look at players making the step into the league from Non league, they’ve usually come from the National League system or Northern Premier League. If the lad has ambitions to be playing league football then maybe a move to Lancaster, Kendal or Workington would be the next step?
There is a valid point about the system of bringing players through though and it would be nice to know if Dunn is hoping to provide that pathway. Its as though at times, local players are considered not good enough for the club without getting a fair shot.
Plenty of local lads going in and out of the academy system and some making a league career. Newby, Anderson, Davies, Curtis all had league careers and Whitehall another who’s just signed a pro contract. We should certainly be keeping tabs on these sort of lads and if they become available then taking a good look at them.

Tony Hesketh is the manager at Fulwood now, I see.
Re: Thomas Dawson
Score was 2-3 showed a bit of character after going three down. The Fulwood lads were mainly older, bigger and stronger.Lancaster Branch wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 11:49 amGot beat by Fulwood Amateurs u21s.mickmike wilson wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 8:11 pm
