Don’t the club normally stay at the dunes the night before a game? Guess this won’t be happening and they’ll have to travel to games on the day now if the hotels are closing, Cambridge included

The EFL notes the difficult decision taken by the Government in respect of the implementation of a ‘national lockdown’ in England from Thursday 5 November 2020 in response to the rising cases of COVID-19.

During this next phase it has been confirmed to the League by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) that elite sport will be able to continue and EFL competitions will therefore remain as currently scheduled (in both England and Wales).

Professional football has implemented some of the most stringent, robust and regularly reviewed protocols since the restart in June 2020 and our medical experts’ advice remains in place to fully adhere to these measures which are specifically designed to mitigate against the spread of the virus.

The health, safety and well-being of players and Club staff throughout the pandemic has been our first priority and this will continue as we enter this next period of lockdown and beyond.

In addition, we acknowledge the Government’s national efforts in tackling this outbreak and would hope that during this next phase of the crisis, our national sport, negatively affected by COVID-19 like many other industries, can continue to provide some form of welcome distraction and give people in our communities up and down the country a sense of normality in very challenging times.

Work that is exempt from restrictions and requires an overnight stay is allowed

Ah right nice, thanks for clearing that up, was mentioned by Dunn in an interview about “car miles” on the day of a game, or something similar impacting players. Big credit to the board for putting up the finances to accommodate the teams for the games

Some of those teams’ games had been chosen for TV, like Harrogate vs Skelmersdale and FCUM vs Doncaster. Devastating for them to lose the telly cash as well as being dumped out of the competition.

Banbury United were due to play Canvey Island, so someone will get a bye in Round 2. Imagine getting through so many rounds and having a great chance of reaching Round 2, then getting chucked out!

Wonder if those “non elite” clubs will have the option to pay for testing the week before the game to allow them to play; heart breaking for them if they get kicked out purely because Boris was too stubborn to admit he was wrong and do a two week lock down when everyone told him to

It's not a great situation but we can all "play our part". Russ's raffle, ifollow (£8 is better than nothing for the club), club shop for Xmas presents, trust membership, programmes etc.
I know not everyone can afford to do all this, especially with the way things are, but if we were going to attend anyway, say, every other week, we can put that money to things like this. Again, I realise it still won't cover the lost income completely, but it can offset some of the losses.
At least this time round we can watch the bluebirds in action while we're all under house arrest.

Would make sense if FA Cup Round One and beyond was to be designated 'Elite Sport' and all clubs who had qualified could take part.
