I think the Covers are only enough to cover the pitch in front of the Wilkie stand as the sun never gets their, there was I believe extra drainage ditches excavated in front of the Wilkie stand also, but the amount of rain has been in Biblical amounts recently can't help that, also drainage used to run into the pool on Asda car park but that has been very high for the last 2 years so that may be one of the problems at the moment.

Some thoughts for Saturdays game v Cambridge assuming the game is on,last week we started slow as a result of the defensive line being too deep giving their midfield too much room to play in,so we need to push a bit higher.I don’t know if that was down to having new central defender who hadn’t played for a while but even if we play with 4or 5 at the back I would like to see Matt Platt more centrally,not sure about Bobby Thomas as he got bullied a bit by their strikers and the winning goal came as a result of him not attacking a straight ball which should have been headed well clear and not dropping to one of their midfielders to set up a move from high up the pitch.The other main problem is that if the defence plays deep we don’t get midfielders getting into the box a good example was after they scored Brought put a good ball across with not a soul attacking it,so play higher and u get more midfielders in support of Quigley,looking at the players we have I would have thought a 4141 formation would suit us good with a defensive midfielder covering the defence and allowing the other midfielders to get more forward something they looked a bit frightened to do with no holding player by playing a holding player it could be more attacking as it could allow the fullbacks to get forward better,although at the top end of the table they looked poor at their place and if we play to our capabilities I can see us getting three ponts

Isn’t the main problem now the Holker Street End basically?

The goal mouth at that end is much better after the slit drains were done a few weeks ago, but the old bluebird club corner was still soft - I'm sure Gareth and co and been working hard on the areas to make sure they are as good as possible. The lamps have been on every night to promote growth and help the troublesome areas (inc steelworks goalmouth)

Has the slitting in the Holker Street goalmouth not been done since the Grimsby game was postponed a week last Tuesday.
It was stated at the time it was in a bad state which contributed to that game being postponed.

Cambridge will be without their best player from the away match - Mitov - the goalie who somehow kept us out until the 95th minute is probably out for the season after just having an operation. Cambridge fans don't rate his replacement,

Yes, but believe there were many other areas of the pitch that were flooded as well, so this area would have been as bad if not worse. Hasn't been a miracle cure, but will help

Not as catchy as Sheffield Wednesday but nevertheless when the new-look Barrow do set about their remaining fixtures, we will just have to hope they can click (and quickly) to provide improved performances and results.

We have some hard games ahead and as I see it we are in a mini league with Stevenage, Grimsby and Southend; all teams we currently have games in hand on. That’s the thing to bear in mind I think when the going gets tough in what will probably be some of the most crucial few months in the club's recent history.

The pool in Asda is definitely higher, I think they have had more problems too. The new houses mean less places for water to go. Then you've got the compaction of the HSE construction. Then we had about the wettest November on record about the same time as we were forced to play 4 games in 8 days. Then the usual winter with a lot of rain.

Apparently the scarring (or whatever it's called) is making a difference.

I'm guessing the match will be rained off but Dimi is out to the end of the season so, whenever it's played, Callum Burton is likely to be between the sticks. The minority who haunt dodgy forums might not rate him but he's a decent L2 keeper who will be more than capable of holding his own - as he's already done this season in the Trophy, League Cup and for 5 League games (6 goals) in December, including wins against Colchester and Orient. He's just not (yet) shown the distribution and worldy saves of our improving young Bulgarian.
