Exeter on Tuesday

Post by LCBAFC40 » Sun Feb 07, 2021 2:30 pm

Hopefully this game is on with the minus temperatures forecast.

No idea what team we'll put out as 3 went off injured yesterday plus Quigley looks injured and Platt failed a fitness test.

Really hoping this new striker is in the squad and can shoot ! Yesterday we played a real football team, like to pass and know what they are doing, hence why they are top! I was annoyed at the game but we need to get real - we won't just turn up and beat everyone! Exeter will be tough, they ended Bradfords good run at the weekend. We need to grind out points and beat teams near us. Atm its a 4 horse race for the bottom 2 and we have 2 games in hand. Its easy for us to criticise Jolley and some of the players but we've played 2 games in almost 4 weeks due to Covid or the weather, the new lads have hardly had a game together. Im not expecting anything on Tuesday, would i take a point - yes ! 3 points and we'll all be singing everyones praises.

We certainly need to improve our attacking threat.I am assuming that Quigley won't be fit (and IMO we need a change anyway from banging the ball up to an out of form or unfit lone striker). Will Michael's namesake get a start? It would be a bit much for a young player to be given a lone striker role, so perhaps he would need a partner.

I hope Jamie Devitt will be fit. Hardcastle should be included as he made a difference when he came on. I would also put in a shout for Luke James. He adds something different, energetically scurrying about, harrying opposition defenders, also sometimes creating an outlet for the defence. He created the only clear cut opportunity on Saturday when he wriggled away from a defender and laid the ball off to Kay.

However, I am not sure how the team would be set up to accommodate my selections!

I’m assuming Platt, Devitt and Quigley won’t be fit enough to start, which is a shame as that’s 3 of your first choice starting 11 missing

Dixon
Eardley
Davies
Jones
Donohue

Bramall
Hardcastle
Banks
Kay

James
Ndjoli

Yes, can't argue with that. Ball would need to be played to feet for the front two.

Who would be the defensive midfielder ? we`d get ripped apart with those four they all want to play forward and don`t want to do the dirty work !

Whoever the manager makes captain on Tuesday night, he should tell them to open their bloody mouth and be a leader on the pitch and kick some ass if the rest of the team are giving anything less than a 110percent. Its blood and thunder all the way now-a fight to the death.

We’ll get ripped apart anyway. Fully expect 0 points again Tuesday. Why not take the game to Exeter instead?

agree - this setting up not to lose doesn't work we go a goal down and then can't change it - attack attack attack

If the games on and assuming the injured players are not fit I'd set up like this :
Dixon
Hird J. Jones Brough
J. Taylor
Eardley Hardcastle Donohue Kay
James Ndoji

4-5-1. Flood the midfield launch it into the ressy every chance we get and celebrate the 0-0 as a point gained.

ha ha. Don't think there's much chance of a point.
Would have been better sticking with the players we had. Sometimes, its better the devil you know.
