The team that was so ineffective last night was almost the same as the one that performed very well against Oldham last week and it all boils down to inconsistency.
These players are L2/Non-league level because they can't re-produce the same level week in/week out for one reason or another.
We were playing a decent outfit in Harrogate who I think will end up in the play-offs.
The players look scared to make a mistake and are beginning to feel the pressure which will increase game by game.
Our emotions will be very up and down for the rest of the season I'm afraid but I do think we'll just survive

It boils down to a sheer lack of quality, even our so called star signings, banks, devitt etc were still players who couldnt get a game in other league 2 teams, southend are in better form than us over the last couple of months and expect them to pick up points more regularly than us unfortunately.
Poor manargial appointments and a scatter gun approach to signings are the reason why we are where we are, from what I've seen this league is not greatly different to the national league and 3/4 good league 2 players as oppose to 15 mediocre players coupled with an old head as a manager would have seen us comfortably survive.
The lack of football knowledge on the board has shown massively

I honestly believe last seasons team with Evatt in charge would be sat somewhere around mid table in this league. There’s a lot less football played but there is a lot more reliance on being solid and doing your jobs correctly for 90 minutes

I'm quite surprised that nobody has mentioned a part of Rob Kelly's interview last night when he didn't say 'no' to the possibility of an incoming striker if the chance possibly arose.

Yes we need to back him.
We have the team we have and before people get on the Boards back they made mistakes but remember they stepped forward and saved the club
I said we would be lucky to get a draw as these are our bogey team,Saturday I think we will have a better chance let's back them.

Ha can't believe you of all people have a go about criticising people in charge! you're right they saved the club but I honestly believe we might not recover from relegation ( unless they're prepared to throw thousands of pounds to get us back in the league) Stockport, York they went straight down to conference north and Halifax nearly folded, it's serious and I'll still be there next season but if we go down you know the stick the board will get will be merciless !

I, like you Nigel, will be there next season whichever league we may be in.
Life back in in the National is now staring us in the face so, if the worst does happen which is looking more and more likely as the weeks roll by, surely we would be better off than most clubs in terms of parachute payments etc.
Add to that the fact that a lot of National league clubs will be in a hell of a state financially nest season on the back of 'this' disastrous season! it may not be as bad as we think.

I am also surprised that nobody has mentioned him speaking twice about players being 'given chances'. "They all get chances in training every day and then I pick the team."

Yes, I thought that was interesting too. It suggests that some of the players we might like to see in the squad haven't done enough in training to show that they are capable or ready.

Regarding the remaining squad place, Kelly said that any players available now are likely to be unfit and anyone not 'match ready' won't be much use to us. Nevertheless, he is keeping that place open just in case.
