(Another) New Manager Discussion
Ok, who is it going to be? Who should it be? Who do you want it to be? What are the rumours? Who has just touched down at Walney Airfield? Who was seen house hunting in Dalton? Get it all in here.

Re: (Another) New Manager Discussion
Wellens or John McGreal would do me
Re: (Another) New Manager Discussion
Wellens had a bit of a mare at Salford, but any manager we look at will have failures.
Re: (Another) New Manager Discussion
McGreal has a reputation for playing "attacking, free-flowing" football with a "fluid 4–2–3–1 system". Is this what we want?

It's definitely what I want! I'd be happy with McGreal. I'd also be happy with Challinor although I don't suppose he'd leave Hartlepool for Barrow even if they don't get promoted. Fylde played attractive football when he was manager and he's done wonders at Hartlepool.

Re: (Another) New Manager Discussion
for a start let's drop this myth about the Evatt way in the end teams were just sitting back and had sussed us out!
all I want is a manager who will make us tough to beat competitive and have a decent attacking strategy, but above all Experience and if possible stability which is what the club needs.
I'm sure as long as us as fans support him and give him a fair chance, ( I stand on the popular side and some of the criticism shouted is sometimes embarrassing ).
we stand together as one and I'm sure with "our" board we'll be ok !

Peter Atherton was a name which came to my mind. Just not sure we should be going down the coach to manager route. Cooper actually has a decent record - worth talking to.sambino wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 12:55 pm https://fanbanter.co.uk/top-six-favouri ... ckRjCmEjIc
Not sure I fancy any of them

If 2 promotions in 2 seasons playing attractive football is a myth then I hope we get another manager who is a myth!!!!blue nige wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 12:42 pm for a start let's drop this myth about the Evatt way in the end teams were just sitting back and had sussed us out!

I think a proven manager is essential ...proven in terms of knowledge of, and contacts within, the English game and the players available at this level ; hopefully someone who has achieved some success in the past ; someone known for adopting a 'footballing style' ? - and someone who is not just looking for 'another payday income source' ...but who also has ideas, enthusiasm and the ability to motivate and bring out the best from the squad we assemble.
First match : Barrow v Northampton Town : Sat. 24th Sept. 1960 ... won 1-0... ( which was nice )

Well Sam Hird could be out, possibly on his way to Bolton to join up with IE.sambino wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 12:55 pm https://fanbanter.co.uk/top-six-favouri ... ckRjCmEjIc

I wouldn’t be happy with anyone on that list if truth be told.

What? A myth that under Evatt we played the best football Ive ever seen in 35 years of watching Barrow? Lets be honest here, we are unrecognisable from that side. 12 short months and two poor management appointments and we ended up playing survival football. Its has to be better.blue nige wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 12:42 pm for a start let's drop this myth about the Evatt way in the end teams were just sitting back and had sussed us out!

The Manager must ooze confidence and back his team all the way. None of this “big step up for some of these players, we’ll see what we can do, give it a go” mentality that was from Dunn almost from his first interview. Im not particularly looking for track records because many of these managers will do well at one club and not so good at the next, so its being a good fit for Barrow and where we are on our development. Absolutely crucial that the next manager does not think staying up is good enough and rips up this terribly negative mindset that holds us back. And if he can get us playing more pleasing football then all the better.
