Hopefully this is the right appointment to take this club forward in the forthcoming season. Agree with Whitty re the midfielder along with a good supporting attacker to play alongside Quigs.

As usual with any manager we won't know until the season is underway. He has a decent career win record of 39.8% slightly better than Neal Ardley's 35% and John McGreal's 37.4% but worse than Mickey Mellon's 46.05% and Dave Challinor's 53% who are others who may or may not have been possibles as all bar Challinor are currently out of work. Of course, a one-legged donkey would have been acclaimed as the next great manager on here just as David Dunn and Michael Jolley were and as every player we sign is until many turn out to be useless! Doesn't seem a bad choice on paper I'll make a judgement on what he produces.

Achieved with Colwyn Bay, Fylde and Hartlepool. Never managed in the EFL. Comparing his win % to Mark Cooper's is completely meaningless.

True but his record at Hartlepool is good and all the others have managed at just as good level as Mark Cooper. That doesn't mean I'm suggesting Mark Cooper won't be decent but the same applies to all the others but they have all had failures as well as successes.

there was quite a lot on here who weren't impressed with Dunn's appointment! and with Jolley's appointment what else could we do ? Kelly had turned it down we had no other choice!, think your criticism is a bit petty and unfounded !

Any manager who hasn't failed hasn't had enough jobs. Personally not convinced by win percentages. Can be lots of reasons for it being higher than average i.e. Mellon at Fleetwood was bankrolled to promotion on Pilley's millions etc. Personally never been impressed by Mellon.

The only exception to that rule is if you are very, very lucky and hit an up-and-coming manager who will rise to a higher level. We did that when we brought in Ian Evatt.

I'm cheerful enough RedWeb just not naive enough to expect Mark Cooper to be a managerial messiah!
