Re: Club to go to cashless payments
Well to say this hasent gone down well is an understatement.
Cashless at the turnstiles I agree with. Think we were already doing ticket only anyway.
Far too soon to do cashless around the ground, and the Barrow eats thing is a crazy idea.
Minimum £50 on a card for kids is just crazy too.
Need to be selling our own pies etc from the food outlets. I'm sure one of the local pie shops would love the contract now Delish won't be doing it.
Going to lose a lot of older and younger fans over this. Card payment is not for everyone.
Need a big rethink on this one....

[SwearFilter] it’s nearly 24 hours after the statement was put out the bored I’ve not come out and said they’re listening to peoples opinion need a rethink quick before we lose all the good well that has been built up over the last two years I for one think it’s a shocking idea

Why would a local pie shop ‘love’ the contract ?whitty1969 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 17, 2021 8:14 am

Re: Club to go to cashless payments
This isn't a criticism of those individuals in certain roles as the club appointments are ultimately made by those at the top and people can only work with what they are given. However the top and bottom of this and other issues like the disaster of the fan zone during the Euros, issues with online stuff, current problems not being to get names and numbers on shirts at the time you actually go to get one is because we continue to try and run a 'professional EFL club' with a skeleton team of amateurs or 'keen fans' as a cheap option, in positions that we need experience and actual 'professionals' who can actually pull us forward to help us start to catch up with the likes of Morecambe, Fleetwood, Salford etc.. all clubs who don't forget, historically have always been below us in the pyramid. Where the hell is this Commercial manager we employed?? Old adage, you get what you pay for. Or more to the point, what you don't pay for!!
Re: Club to go to cashless payments
Reading the thread back through I think that the biggest gripe with this is the club introducing it without any fan consultation and not phasing it in which would help in getting fans used to the idea, in the meanwhile still having a cash choice.
Have to recognise that the methods used to spend money has changed a lot in the last 12 months.
Once fans get comfortable with the idea of cashless then seeing the number of card v cash payments increasing would give the sign to the club - fans are now used to this- we can go fully cashless.
Not sure about this fx card thing though and the pre loading with £50. Thats a separate argument.

Re: Club to go to cashless payments
Lot of fuss over nothing this for me. 11 pages! Bet if there had been a forum back when we moved on from signing for everything to using a pin number there'd have been an absolute meltdown, although this is very close. Understand completely about the timing of it and the lack of consultation/communication but the rest is baffling.
Lots of clubs want to move to a cashless stadium experience for want of a better phrase. Since the pandemic loads of things have become cashless out of necessity. It's the future. Are you really going to stop going to watch the team because you can't buy a drink or whatever using cash?? It's a simple change that after a short time will become habit, try it you might like it.
To be fair, I don't understand the Fair FX card thingy. My kids who are old enough to attend football without me have their own bank accounts and cards and they use contactless because it's what they know and have been brought up on. They don't need a pre-loaded card, I assume that that is just an option, probably born out of some kind of sponsorship agreement. If you don't like it, don't use it. My youngest son is 9, he doesn't have a bank account yet but if came with me and I would pay for him using my card like I would anywhere else. It's not really that hard.
Resistance to change constantly surprises and mystifies me. This is just one step further into a future that is already all around us, with a view to increasing revenue and customer experience with shorter queues etc. I'm struggling to see what the problem is, I really am.

Re: Club to go to cashless payments
I can think of many reasons why they might not includingwhitty1969 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 17, 2021 8:54 amAn order of 800 pies on Saturday?
Have we asked anyone?
And why wouldn't they?
Resource issues - how do you make that many extra pies with a small team
Returns - will club still buy them all if a game is cancelled ?
Extra costs for logistics of doing it
If the club were buying them at full retail price (or slight discount) from the supplier then it might work - if however they ask for a ridiculous discount then there is no point IMO
Far more to consider than ‘800 pies on a Saturday’

Re: Club to go to cashless payments
Well, we shouldn't worry, we have a full time employee of the club that will have it all in hand.Stephen Leonard wrote: ↑Sat Jul 17, 2021 9:05 amI can think of many reasons why they might not includingwhitty1969 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 17, 2021 8:54 am

From yesterday statementJammyBluebird wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 9:33 pmBarrow Eats - Order drinks for the fanzone to collect at half time, allows staff to pour pints just before the whistle and alleviate ques. Nothing to do with catering food ironically.Jonty wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 9:19 pm Barrow Eats- sorry can someone please explain?
I just want to walk up to a food hut and buy a pie. Is that not happening now?
What are they doing down there. Where is the consultation with the Trust on going cashless? Is there going to be catering/ food huts inside the ground or not? What has happened to the Delish pies- is that finished?
Fans will be able to go on to the Barrow Eats app from four hours prior to kick-off and order their food and drinks for collection in the Fan Zone at a designated half time slot

Re: Club to go to cashless payments
Thought we’d have heard something from the board lately regards :
- Our main striker being sold and so far not replaced, is there a plan for him to be replaced?
- Spennymoor being strangely cancelled due to injuries at our pre season camp! Weird this and not sure I quite believe this is the genuine reason. What’s the truth?
- cash less ground debacle with no consultation with Trust or fans.
- fan zone not being used and optimised during the Euro’s, what an opportunity missed to make money!
- constant rumours about Cooper supposedly already looking elsewhere, this true or not? How committed to us is he?
- catering at the ground, sounds minor but who is doing it and what are the options going to be?
All the hard work this board has done over the past couple of years has been affected by some poor decisions and lack of comms recently. Answer will be “attend next weeks meeting and ask the question” but it should be made public now what’s happening, be transparent with us please.

The argument is the introducing of it fully and immediately and with no phased approach where you can still use cash if you want to. The idea / move to cashless is the way we are heading - yes it is beneficial to club and fans and I think fans would get used to it very quickly and see the benefits.

As for the Barrow eats thing, whoever came up with that idea rather than source and negotiate a deal with another local supplier for food, pies, burgers, cups of tea/coffee etc.. to be run by the club so we can actually make money (as almost every other club does), needs to consider their position.

Have to laugh about, reducing queues,,yes you can pour a few pints quicker but you'll still have to queue, that's if people go at their required slots, think we over thought this
and it could end up being a disaster the first time we trial this system @, I hope I'm wrong

It’s not the principle that’s the main issue for many but the process and timing of its introduction in a very black/white way with no leeway for those who either have genuine concerns or are wary or may have difficulties
I also think the complete lack of any further comment on the issue by the board is very poor - not many issues have united so many different sections of the fan base on here and other social media - the club could make things easy on themselves and simply say that they have seen the response and have taken stock and have delayed (not cancelled ) the proposal to take further feedback on board
Simple really
