Club to go to cashless payments

I'm one who this move would have affected far less than others (as a ST holder and rarely buys food at the ground). What I can't get past is the absolute certainty that this was going to be the reaction. How is it possible that the board did not see this as the guaranteed outcome? Was there nobody who said 'hold on a minute guys, this just isn't going to fly'?
I have no doubt that cashless and contactless is the future, and I have no problem with that. Viva Skynet! However, I think if the request had gone out to please pay by card if you possibly can because it helps the club financially...then we probably would have got most of the way there. From that point it could have been warned that after this season of readjustment then the following season would be the cut-off. It would give time for much more even-tempered feedback to be considered. Having said all that...Barrow Eats? That's a [SwearFilter] nightmare scenario.

Many current supporters - season ticket holders etc. started by coming to the odd game and paying on the day.

If they won't set up a turnstile for that at least let people buy a ticket at the shop in the hour prior to kick off and then close it. Not too much to ask surely?

The club is already do doing this. You can buy a ticket from the ticket office in the days leading up to the match and right up to kick off and so less and less cash transaction on the gate. Its the way forward and clearly the benefits outweigh the negatives. In the past you have been able to buy this ticket with cash but ultimately the club want you to purchase it via a cashless transaction in the future, which will happen Im sure, just need a transitional period.

To be honest paying cash the turnstile is a faff (handling money, sorting change etc, queues) and has been the least cost effective way for someone to attend the match for a number of seasons. Plus, in the case of the Main Stand, seats will now be allocated on the ticket.

Only with a card on the day. Which is the same issue as argued so I don't think they've rectified the full issue IMO.

Have to agree, what’s changed in terms keeping the option open of parents giving kids cash to go to the soccer?.
It’s the none consultation with the fans which is poor. What happened to all of the professionalism shown last season?

This isn't a criticism of those individuals in certain roles as the club appointments are ultimately made by those at the top and people can only work with what they are given. However the top and bottom of this and other issues like the disaster of the fan zone during the Euros, issues with online stuff, current problems not being to get names and numbers on shirts at the time you actually go to get one is because we continue to try and run a 'professional EFL club' with a skeleton team of amateurs or 'keen fans' as a cheap option, in positions that we need experience and actual 'professionals' who can actually pull us forward to help us start to catch up with the likes of Morecambe, Fleetwood, Salford etc.. all clubs who don't forget, historically have always been below us in the pyramid. Where the hell is this Commercial manager we employed?? Old adage, you get what you pay for. Or more to the point, what you don't pay for!!

He is out and about trying to pull in sponsorship, I know as he visited me yesterday.

Was he successful?

No issues with card payments for tickets - it’s the common theme around most Football League clubs these days, something folk need to remember.

If you don’t like bringing your card with you, pay in advance and have the ticket printed out or on your phone. It’s not difficult.

"Luddites" if you're going to try to be smart at least spell the word right
None of us are against change it's just the transition period
if you don't care about others then why come on a forum ( which embraces everyone), some of us actually consider other less fortunate supporters , I've got money, season ticket etc, but there's a lot of others less fortunate, a bit of
compassion wouldn't go amiss !

We already have three advertising boards, agreed on some match sponsorship. He seems proactive though!

Not according to the club statement!

In addition, we will also take cash at the Club Shop and Ticket Office during normal business hours on Monday to Friday, so that match tickets can be purchased for cash in advance.

The Fan Zone and Cross Bar will continue with the plan to go cashless, as well as the Club Shop on matchdays.

Where does the statement say that tickets can be bought in the fanzone - yes - it takes cash but does it sell tickets.

Unless I'm reading this wrong according to the club statement there is no way of buying a ticket after normal business hours on Friday.
