Why should we, what if we played a bigger club should we then have the away section for home fans ?

What are you blathering on about, It’s a friendly & they sold their allocation while we sold nowhere near ours….Hate to break it to you but it’s very expensive to run a football club & IMHO it’s madness to turn away fans who want to attend.

Say we allowed another 500 Bolton in today the club would have made an easy extra several grand, You never ever look a gift horse in the mouth

Mike, we have to also consider the ground configuration, turnstiles, facilities etc, match-day management, stewarding, policing. We currently have an away capacity of 600 odd which isnt great but if demand outstrips capacity we just have to factor that in. It is a match-day management decision and correct imo.

Why would we get over 2,000 for a pre season friendly, on a hot weekend in summer holidays?

Giving more to away fans would mean we would lose the holker end where else could they go, took us years to get a roof on it.

IIRC this has been mentioned some time ago and the segregation fence is so that it can easily be moved. From what I can recall though extra capacity for away fans would only be given if the club were unlikely to fill the rest of the ground with home fans. FA Cup rules are away team is supposed to get 15% of ground capacity roughly 750 for Holker street so might not have any option but to increase the away end capacity by another 100 if a large following of away fans are expected.

The fencing definitely cannot be easily moved. The HSE changes shape as you move towards the home end meaning the fencing, fixtures & gates won’t fit the next column.
I’m not saying it can’t be done but it wouldn’t be easy and not something that can be done quickly.

But Demand will outstrip demand several times per season & clubs we try to model ourselves on make sure they can accommodate these larger followings as it’s financial sense to do so, Why turn down free money one day then get the begging bowl out on other days?
