There has been a lot of views raised around the decision made to go cashless at the club, for buying tickets and for making purchases.

In the main, there are concerns being raised largely around these points-

1- Some fans can’t or don’t want to use a card to make a ticket purchase. This is their choice as consumers. As a result some fans are possibly no longer going to the game
2- having a matchday pint, a pie, Small purchases at stadium outlets are still more likely to be made with cash if fans have cash on them.
3- Pre loaded cash card for younger fans. The suggestion of a pre loaded £50 card has not been met positively. It’s not unusual for younger fans to go to the game without their parents. Are the days of parents giving these fans an allowance for spending money when they go to the game over?
5- spending habits are changing due to the pandemic, but for many carrying and using cash, especially for smaller purchases is still the preferred choice, especially for many elderly and younger age groups.
6- Is there any cost savings from going cashless? Yes there will be less time required to manage cash handling, reduce cash processing fees at bank etc, (although card processing may also carry a charge) saving time, cash loss errors. However, quick research shows that there are solutions to manage and monitor cash payments real time, increase efficiency and importantly still provide people with a choice in payment.

I think its clear that fans consider that there should still be a cash option to buy tickets and so lets hope the club will reconsider this and let fan feedback drive the decision making. Can the Trust board rep take the fan opinion on this forward to the club.

I suggested that it maybe about trust and someone confirmed it was raised at the QA.
The club are punishing the old and less well of.

Apologies, not fully aware of your previous issues, but what’s stopping you from purchasing a ticket online and having it available on your phone or printed out beforehand?

Because I would be coming from work and in my job I can have unexpected delays and may end up missing the game completely. In an ideal world it would be great to say support the club and but a ticket anyway whether you use it or not but my finances don’t allow for that

Neither more nor less relevant than yours or mine. He has kindly volunteered to act as a conduit between supporters and club.

If you have contacted him already to express your view he will undoubtedly take that into account in discussions with his contact(s) at the club.

It was obvious even before Covid19 that going cashless was going to become the new norm in most walks of life, people will get used to it as they’ll have to.
The difference here is the speed at which it has been implemented…or tried to be implemented.
If we’re pushing ahead with this it needed to be watertight and not leave the club open to criticism, which it’s obviously struggling to achieve at the moment. I never went in the fanzone last Tuesday but I heard the card readers went down again, I was also told they failed in the food outlet on the pop side on Saturday and people were then asked to use cash….!!
Then there’s the very poorly thought out “kids card” idea.
All this needed a season of planning and to bring it in gradually - letting people get used to it and at the same time giving the club the time they’d need to sort out the problems that were always going to arise.

It is an option but why should the trust bail out the club because the board is being stubborn, with probably somebody saying 'not over my dead body'. It is up to the club to sell tickets not the trust.
The board has done so much for this club yet they won't back down on this one.
Why not?

I have just been alerted to the following on the the "buying tickets" tab on the clubs website.

There is also a Matchday Ticket Office close to Main Reception where fans can buy their tickets using cash or card on the day of a game.

Is this correct? Have the club had a change of mind ?or is this an old page that needs updating?

Why does it keep being stated that cashless will be the new norm? Other than some football cubs it seems Eve
ry other business will happily take money straight from your pocket. As an example I have paid for my haircut,train ticket,taxi,countless shops/supermarkets transactions,pubs etc all using coins or notes.

I know two people who did not go because of the new system.
If you have something to sell you make it easier to buy it not harder.
I am just wondering if there is a issue of trust with cash and that's why we have gone this route.

Think it's got more to do with Covid 19 rather than a no trust with cash issue. Hundreds of punters paying by cash means anyone infected could pass it on via paper money. Maybe the club have bore this in mind? When visiting India and Egypt tourists were always advised to wash hands after exchanging money with the locals - pre the Covid 19 pandemic - due to the poor hygiene of those two countries. Makes sense really.

Sorry to use my own problem again but this is something the club are getting wrong.

I emailed Anya about me sometimes needing to arrive at Holker Street late to watch a match and could I still gain entry. From what I can fathom from the emails I can get in late but have to have a ticket. The problem with this is I won’t have a ticket and would need to pay as I arrive, either cash or card. I don’t think it is possible to buy a ticket that late in the day from what I can gather.

I won’t be the only one who is missing out, and in respect of the cash problem, other people buying tickets for others isn’t a good long term solution. The club need to be a bit more understanding on this imo

Not everybody has a printer or takes a the phone to football matches.
