Re: Not In My Town Not In My Club.
I agree I would not want the Zigger Zagger chant to be retired as it is part of Barrow AFC and has been for many years.I would even like to hear it more often at home and away games.I cannot believe this is not what the Colchester goalkeeper heard. The first part of it became the title of our match programmes and is always on sale at every match though unfortunately wasn,t at the Colchester match due to the printers thinking the Friday night match was on Saturday.I think if their goalkeeper had seen these programmes on sale he would have realised that was what was being sung by the Barrow fans and not the despicable word he thought was being sung.
Re: Not In My Town Not In My Club.
This must be the first time ever that a programme not being printed on time has led to a racism investigation...
Re: Not In My Town Not In My Club.
So what was said to the keeper,? Has he reported it to the police? Have the cameras been checked ?

As the quote was made on a public forum I suggest it was the members of the forum that were being asked.
Re: Not In My Town Not In My Club.
Why would a member of the forum know unless involved as a witness/investigator?
If the latter, why would they say on a public forum?

Just been to the club and on enquiring about the ongoing investigation into racism was told that the police were now involved,so we will have to wait for the outcome of their enquiries.
I just hope they do not find anything as it will look very bad on our club which is in the process of being rebuilt and could set us back years because of one stupid remark by some neanderthal.

If the police do find someone did shout racist stuff then the offender should face the courts to be punished & probably get a ban from the club & if no evidence is found then the FA should take action against the player IMO.

Another angle - doesn’t seem like a bad kid to me. Would love it not to be true, this sort of stuff is abhorrent.

Reading that, I get the opposite opinion of him, He’s never personally heard racist abuse before ever!!John_Bucks wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 5:00 pm Another angle - doesn’t seem like a bad kid to me. Would love it not to be true, this sort of stuff is abhorrent.

Nothing ever gets done about it, In the age where everything is getting done about it!!
Something isn’t right here IMHO

Re: Not In My Town Not In My Club.
Excuse my naivety but why will it set back by years the continued development of the club? IF - and I have absolutely no idea - an individual(s) is/are found culpable they will be dealt with by the courts. Unless the club were to be censured in a manner not seen before there is no reason why it should not continue to progress.Methuselah wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 3:55 pm Just been to the club and on enquiring about the ongoing investigation into racism was told that the police were now involved,so we will have to wait for the outcome of their enquiries.

If we as a club were to receive a large fine it could affect the club financially .I just hope the EFL decides not to act given the swift action taken by the club already, but I wouldn,t hold my breath because what has been going on internationally with the England team and will want to be seen to.be taking action against things like this themselves.I just hope I am wrong.

From what I have heard the keeper didn’t make anything up. Doubt it will ever be proved. If nothing else we need to keep our own in check and use this as a wake up call.

Presume you’ve done the right thing and provided evidence to the police?Back of the net wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 6:59 pm From what I have heard the keeper didn’t make anything up. Doubt it will ever be proved. If nothing else we need to keep our own in check and use this as a wake up call.
