Remember coming up the Sunday after the Stevenage game last season (First league game but during the lockdown so obviously no supporters were allowed in). Cleaned up the main stand and players dugout areas. I was surprised how much rubbish I cleaned up that day particularly water bottles they were everywhere!!

an easier solution is don't be a lazy so and so when you leave take your waste to the bins at the exits of the stand. OR as you feel so strongly about the state of the ground after a game, feel free to join the maintenance team ond help them to clear other lazy peoples waste. you could also consider becoming a steward, sure the club would welcome more on matchdays.

just a thought, why don't the lazy sods who throw their rubbish on the floor ..Put it in the bins provided.. Or maybe, offer your services.

I've a confession. 30 - 35 years ago before I moved to Belize I used to sit in the old wooden stand (Holker Street end) and eat pistachio nuts, dropping the shells all over the place. Sorry for whoever had to clean up after me. A bit older now, I always take my rubbish home with me now, any crisps, sweet papers, tins, bottles etc. are allways in a plastic bag from the shop, put the litter in there and take it with you and dispose of responsibly.

It’s probable that most offenders don’t read all this advise re litter on the forum. What about a sticker put on back of seats in the stands saying put your litter in the bins provided not the floor please.

You could have it tattooed to the inside of their eyelids and many still wouldn’t use bins!

To be honest Anne, there’s more bins than there’s ever been at the ground, I honestly don’t think we could put many more out. Stickers on the backs of seats would very soon become just another sign that gets forgotten about (do some dog walkers take note of dog fouling signs?)
I think what makes it harder is the fact that we (or the litter pickers) try to separate items for recycling, they have a dedicated skip just for that. It all came to a head recently when the lads who normally do it were unfortunately all away after the same home game - which meant other people who were doing other jobs had to do it.
Anyway, I think that’s enough talk about the litter but it would be helpful if those that do read this can help us by using the bins provided.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

But those who cleaned it weren't paid so there isn't a bill to be paid.

Are you deliberately missing the point here!

The company that short changed us could be sent the cleaning bill….If the club decide to treat those who cleaned them, that would be nice then both club & cleaners aren’t out of pocket.

Sure this would have been swept under the carpet a long, long time ago!
