Tremendous to see! Well done all.

You can't beat a bit of good drain cleaning, particularly as an observer.

Fantastic work as always. Was at a party at the Rugby yesterday afternoon and the difference in the state of Craven Park compared to how neat and tidy Holker St looks these days is remarkable.

The (hopefully) final touches to the Press Box as we get ready for the NSC to “officially” open it on the 20th November after their AGM. The club will also be there along with the clubs photographer.

First picture is of the match day control room being prepped ready for painting.
The second picture is of the entrance to the Press Box that needed plywood sheets fitting to close off the frame, this will be painted in the next week or so.

The ground was once again completely picked of litter - which after the winds and the seagulls had helped themselves was a mess…it was everywhere.

One of the lads also found a wallet with bank cards & money in, this was later returned to a quite relieved supporter.

The first photo is of where the angle bar that acts as a gutter for the rain coming off the porta-loo roof had broken off and was now letting water run inside and rotting the floor. We replaced it with a new angle bar and some sealant underneath it…not the easiest thing to do as the rain was still quite heavy at that point, and that’s why it looks a bit messy.
The second photo is is the area around the floodlight but the Trust shop. I was stood just behind that on Saturday and people were having to walk through the water as they moved around the ground. A few holes drilled through the terracing will let the water drain away now. Unfortunately the casualty was our SDS battery drill which has been invaluable to us over the last few years, that looks like it was it’s last holes drilled though.

Food and brews again served by Elaine, and as usual a good craic with Mark Hetherington at brew time.

Keep up good work.Shame you can’t drill in main stand along my row.We sit with our feet in puddles every wet day for quite a stretch. Not blown in cos walkway in front of us always dry when get there .We think roof seam that runs above us May leak when heavy rain .
Realise not much be spent on main stand but perhaps a sealant on the join next summer?

I don't know what press boxes around the grounds look like but ours looks pretty damned fine to me. Big thanks to NSC and the GMV for this, great effort:

Amen to that, don't think words can commend the efforts from those who've put their own time towards ground improvements over the years. Holker Street looks so much better than it did 4 or 5 years ago.

10 years ago in October the GMV was formed…so it’s been a superb effort throughout, it’s a bit different now as some have retired and work through the week but communication and vision remains the same we all want the best for the club and every little thing we can do at no cost will free up the clubs money to improve other areas.

Superb thread & its fantastic to see the various updates & upgrades to the ground by our superb Volunteers.

PS Will a few bags of self leveller solve the puddles in the stand?

I must set up a DD to help the GMV team out a little more.

A DD is a perfect way to help us Mike. We don’t rely on anything other than donations and without those we couldn’t take on a tenth of what we do. The NSC have been amazing over the years funding the bigger projects but we totally rely on single donations of any amount to keep us ticking over - and they go a long way to helping us and the club. Most of the time we have skilled time served tradesmen taking on jobs for free, imagine the cost to the club if they had to pay for that.
There are plenty of ways to help us with costs, setting up a DD, giving us a one off donation or just throwing a few quid our way by person on a match day, it all helps.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Just like to thank Plynie off here for his very generous donation of tools for us to make use of, all very useful and Tommy loves a good grinder 😳…he’s rather excited by that!

Regarding the fanzone and the problem of the “stray” shots - I’ve spoken to Kris Wilkes's and at some point in the next few days we’ll be going to the ground to have a look at what the options are. The obvious ones are moving where the practice nets go pre-match (that’ll obviously be a club decision) or, attach posts & netting to the existing posts and wooden cladding. The problem with netting will be making it look right and not just something else to make another area of the ground look untidy.
