Well if he can fit straight in and do the business then I won’t be complaining. We needed quality and experience and we know Rooney can make things happen. That’s what we need. We have great midfield options and this signing makes them even stronger

Rooney's days at Stockport were numbered the moment Dave Challiner arrived. The new manager's style demands supreme fitness, the ability to play to set plans rigidly. It's almost like watching an army of ants overun it's enemy. Rooney's game, whilst impressive, does not fit this team strategy. But a number ofCounty fans seem convinced he was instrumental in the dismissal of manager Jim Gannon. If this was the case Dave Challiner would surely, to say the least, be wary of his presence. However he is good player and has proven his worth to Barrow previously.
