Rooney's days at Stockport were numbered the moment Dave Challiner arrived. The new manager's style demands supreme fitness, the ability to play to set plans rigidly. It's almost like watching an army of ants overun it's enemy. Rooney's game, whilst impressive, does not fit this team strategy. But a number ofCounty fans seem convinced he was instrumental in the dismissal of manager Jim Gannon. If this was the case Dave Challiner would surely, to say the least, be wary of his presence. However he is good player and has proven his worth to Barrow previously.

Will strengthen the midfield but more than anything we need a central defender that can win balls in both boxes because the lack of clean sheets is as much as a concern as the lack of goals,we concede so many soft goals that’s where I would have targeted a new signing

Agree with that. The circumstances of his leaving should be forgotten. It is what he does from Tuesday onwards that will count.
