Everything good that we did to get our noses in front went out out of the window and then they score from the only way they were going to score

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I don’t remember anyone saying cooper shouldn’t have been appointed when we first did though. All he’s got wrong is not signing a prolific striker

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I don’t remember anyone saying cooper shouldn’t have been appointed when we first did though. All he’s got wrong is not signing a prolific striker

Came out thinking two points gone again. Average first half but a great goal from Rooney ( also a clear chance missed for Gordon whose confidence on goal seems shot). Second half we invited pressure, Walsall playing it around and we got away with one clear Walsall chance until the inevitable corner, header goal. Subs made a little difference for ten mins but we offer diddly squat I'm Afraid. Platt mom for me.

Real chance to finally win at home again missed today; we just came out after half time and sat back/didn’t show the same intensity as the first half. That’s the sign of a team that isn’t used to winning, can’t close games out. Thankfully Carlisle did us a favour getting a very late winner!

Was good to see Platt back in (yes it was a daft free kick for their goal but that should be defended from there) and Brough back to his best position. Gotts did well at right wing back as well, gets a bit more time on the ball than when he plays in the middle. Sadly it’s same old story when the ball goes forward, it either doesn’t stick with Harris or Gordon is running the channels (which he does well) so then there’s no-one actually in the middle to cross the ball to. Rooneys goal was a bit of individual quality but that’s the only way we look like scoring at the moment really, not like keepers are pulling off save after save against us or strikers are missing tap ins, we just don’t create those sorts of chances.

Reading a a lot of posts above I might be in a minority of one on this Forum here when saying that's the best I have seen us play for quite some time. Of course we still create little but at least I thought we tried hard to get forward as much as we could which made a change from the ultra-cagey stuff we have seen for the last few months. Second half? True we struggled to get forward after doing plenty of that in the first half but my reading of it was that we were pressed back as opposed to deliberately sitting on our lead, due to a combination of them searching for an equaliser and the wind coming at us strongly (one of those rare occasions when it was blowing towards the sea). I wouldn't particularly knock us today, I think they all had a real good go and tried hard to get forward when they could, even in that difficult second 45. Very frustrating, but heads up. Battle like that and we can still get out of this. And hopefully Stevenage are deflated after conceding a very late equaliser.

Id agree we played not bad and handled them well as they were a big physical side. They were also good at putting it about and and giving a bit off the ball. The ref/4th official bottled the incident which should have been a red card.

After going ahead with a well-worked and superbly taken Rooney goal in the first half which we eventually dominated, Walsall pressed us much more in the second and equalised through a poorly-defended free kick.

Walsall started brightly. A minute in, we conceded a corner, Platt heading out Earling’s kick. Ten minutes in another corner, this time taken by Wilkinson, was cleared off the line by Jones.

The last half hour of the first period saw Barrow in the ascendancy. In the 18th minute Platt played a ball forward for Gordon who struck wide from close range. A minute later, in the same attack, both Gordon and Banks were badly fouled near the Wilkie stand touchline. Monthe and Tomlin both received bookings, although the latter was lucky to escape with a red. Our first corners, taken by Rooney in the 25th/27th minutes, were cleared as was a Rooney free kick for a foul on Platt on the half hour.

The 3.000 strong Barrow contingent of the 3,439 crowd were also well behind the players who were committing themselves to go for every ball at this stage. In the 35th minute we finally make the breakthrough. An excellent challenge won the ball and a really good build up followed, Gordon feeding Rooney who unleased an excellent 20-yard shot inside the right post.

This galvanised Walsall and, 40 minutes in, Banks fouled Labadie near the edge of the area. Tomlin’s free kick was cleared for an Earing corner, from which a Tomlin crossed was saved by Farman.

In added time, Gotts fired well over from 15 yards.

The second half was a different story, with Barrow soon under the cosh. Three were two Walsall corners in the first couple of minutes as first a Labadie cross and then a Wilkinson shot were cleared.

Walsall also broke from a Rooney corner in the 55th minute, a full-length pitch run by Shade having to be cleared for a Walsall corner.

There was another scare for Barrow a minute later, as a Farman kick was chased down by Miller- who fired the ball across goal and just past the left post.

Rodney then came on for Miller and in the 67th minute, Brough fouled Rodney near the right touchline. Osadebe launched his free kick across goal for Daniels to head in at the far post for the equaliser.

In the 79th minute a double substitution attempted to breath fresh life into our flagging performance, Stevens returning from injury to replace Harris and Hutton coming on for White.

During the set-up for a Rooney corner in the 82nd minute, Platt was booked for a push in the area. The corner was cleared and Walsall’s Tomlin was replaced by Kiernan.

Luckily for Barrow, an 87th minute shot by Shade flew just past the left post and the spoils were shared, a fair result on the day. Barrow’s man of the match was Rooney whose well-taken goal was the highlight of the game.
