So you’d rather have an open terrace where you more than likely didn’t stand on poor weather days , and couldn’t create an atmosphere on good days.

When i was much younger I used to stand at the Holker Street end when we kicked that way - and the noise was great under the old roof - it seamed to decrease a lot when the old roof came off.
Now i'm 55 and sit in the main stand and the new roof on the Holker Street end has brought the atmosphere back to similar to what it was before. Not only that but having the roof there encourages the waverers to come to matches when the weather is dodgy because they know they can stay dry.

It will need a good few million spent to turn it into a "nice FL ground" Putting the roof on the HS end has made the ground worse IMO. Should have used that money on making the BA stand longer to house the extra seats required. Then put a cantilever roof on the HS end when they could afford it. instead they've made a poor stand with no cover into a terrible stand with a massively restricted view.

What the hell do you lot want on here?Do you want to stand out in the rain at the Holker St end.I cannot believe the way some people criticise the board on here.Cast your minds back a couple of seasons,where were we?Not that long ago we were going to get relegated from the National League and we managed to survive.This will.be our third season in the EFL and as the money comes in the ground will gradually improve ,so have patience,Rome wasn,t built in a day.Onwards and upwards.

I agree that we should all look back on the past few years, in to Casson’s era, and consider how much we have improved off the field (and on). The ground will be lopsided for I reckon a decade or more until we can turn HS in to a nice FL ground

I don’t think they could’ve got anywhere near extending the BA stand for the money that they spent on putting the roof on the HSE.
I’ve stood on the HSE for 35 years and if I was given the option of no roof or what we have - I’d be taking what we have all day long, as I guess would most others looking at how busy it is on match-days. Worth it for the atmosphere alone….plus keeping dry.
It might not be ideal but the owners didn’t HAVE to spend their cash on that, but did so because they knew it was always a bit of a sore point with supporters.

Well said. We’ve made more progress under the current board since 2018, than the previous few decades. The noise from the holker end is excellent now also.

Iv'e really enjoyed the new HSE roof this season, its brought atmosphere back to our home end. I really appreciate whoever financed it, there's still plenty of nice open spaces in the ground to stand for the miserable [SwearFilter] who prefer to get wet and complain about anything.

It stops you getting wet when it rains. If it is that bad why is it so well populated every week? The noise from the crowd is far better than it was without the roof.

Dont think that there's any argument that the roof needed doing as a matter of urgency.

The issue is the solution that they went with both with the stantions and the bloody ridiculous seating arrangements.

I.d be pretty sure that if they'd hired a temporary stand for say 350 and erected it in the corner/ next to the main stand the income from that and the increased standing places created by not having the seats in the HSE would have gone a long way to paying for it.

They could then have got an identical one this season and erected that at the other side of the main stand to create a family stand as has been suggested previously and as both would be on rental very little upfront cost

This would then as I have suggested previously allowed them to take 2 metres off the length of the pitch which would have allowed them to put a pad down and erect one of stadium solutions 6-row prefabricated constructions which given the constraints at either end would cover 80% of the width allowing for a capacity of about 500 which would then push the seating capacity over the 2000 required.

This solution would then have the added bonus that they wouldn't then have constructed anything permanent in the spaces at either side of the existing main stand which surely they must realise will need replacing at some point in the next 10 years.

When we were erecting the HSE roof I kept up with the plans and application on the council website. I’m currently checking it daily and as yet no new plans have been submitted for any permanent structures. Yeah maybe
With the ambition and backing of the board we should be a league club for the foreseeable future and we deserve a stadium to replicate that. A stanchion every 3 metres across makes it look terrible and the view is restricted. It’s non league at best and we should have got a cantilever roof. Apparently it was £250k more, unsure how true that figure is though. It seems like the board rushed the decision for the roof and should have thought about it more. Away fans can’t see anything left of the goal and home fans can’t see much more to the right of the goal
