Rubbish Cooper dropped him for several weeks. Came back playing OK in spite of dark cloud Cooper. He would have been the first player on my retained list

Re: Matt Platt
Probably dropped by Cooper when he became aware he had no intention of being here next season.
Re: Matt Platt
Which came first not wanting to stay here playing for Cooper or Cooper treating him badly?Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 9:31 pmProbably dropped by Cooper when he became aware he had no intention of being here next season.

Re: Matt Platt
Great player for us. His form was poor under Cooper when he played, so I don't know what went on behind the scenes. Finished the season strongly after Cooper left. Sad to see him leave, but all the best for the future Matt.
Re: Matt Platt
Platt certainly wasn’t dead wood. Move on we must but let’s respect the great player he was for us. Soild at the back for a majority of the games. There’s no loyalty In football from players but why should there be?
Re: Matt Platt
I'm not saying he wasnt a good player for us, I'm saying once his link to the club is severed he is dead wood, move on.

Disappointed he’s not gone up a division or 2. Definitely capable of higher standard of footballJammyBluebird wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 8:11 am Signed for Bradford City

Re: Matt Platt
This. I can understand him moving up to League 1 but he hasn’t bettered himself at all by going to another League 2 team. Obviously just another money move.bamber678 wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 8:17 amDisappointed he’s not gone up a division or 2. Re: Matt Platt
Of course he has bettered himself. He's going to a team that are aiming for promotion. Much better than going to Bolton and sitting on the bench for a year stagnating.BoltonBlue wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 8:23 amThis. Re: Matt Platt
Playing under an ex-star player and ex-Premiership manager. And at a club with a much bigger stature than ours, probably on a bigger wedge too. No brainier for him.BoltonBlue wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 8:23 amThis. I can understand him moving up to League 1 but he hasn’t bettered himself at all by going to another League 2 team. Re: Matt Platt
Agree a lot more chance of growth and success, definitely a step up and raises his profile. And that ultimately leads to another further step up and a bigger bank balance if he fulfils his potential.Big_Bluebird wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 8:31 am Massive club, proper training ground and more money. Thanks for your efforts Matt whilst at Barrow AFC

Re: Matt Platt
I wonder if that's how we got Canavan (a poor replacement!)?
Re: Matt Platt
That's a step up, to a lesser extent the same as what Evatt did moving from Barrow to Bolton who are in the same league. Morecambe lost their manager to them despite being a higher division. They're a huge club at this level and have had crowds of 17,000 and will be aiming for promotion.
Good luck to him.
Good luck to him.
