If we are targeting one manager then I and everyone would hope the decision is based on sound facts?
We need a proven league manager who hS the contacts to move us onwards.
A gamble on an untested manager at this level is exactly that. Dunn etc are examples.
I really hope the board are seeking the right pedigree otherwise it’s a throw of the dice.

Don't let the old man in.
Re: Who Do We Want ?
Going to say the same thing Mister Pleasant. Evatt didn't do too badly for a rookie appointment. In other words who knowsMisterPleasant wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 10:42 pmCooper?Soulboy wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 10:40 pm![]()

Watched the game on BT tonight after following the speculation on here.
Didn't really like the football either side produced so either manager is a no from me.

They did not play well tonight. However he’s done wonders with a limited budget. Halifax have quite a few issues as a club that would normally mitigate against a top 7 finish.
Unfair to compare with Dunn who’d only ever managed Blackpool for four games and had no relevant managerial experience.

Re: Who Do We Want ?
I get your point but to compare Wild and Dunn doesn’t work.
Dunn had managed Oldham and done badly, then done ok as caretaker manager of Blackpool for a very very short period.
Wild did well in short spells as caretaker manager and permanent manager at Oldham (at this level) and has gained plenty of experience whilst doing a great job at Halifax. He never played football as such so has had almost 20 years of coaching experience despite his young age
Re: Who Do We Want ?
Wild has done at least as well as, if not better than forum obsession Luke Garrard. In fact, comparing resources I'd suggest Wild did a truly remarkable job to have Halifax pushing the top three all season. They also reached the playoffs last season under Wild. Just not enough to get over the line but plenty of teams much bigger (and richer) than Halifax have had that problem in the National League.

Best home record in the national league. Fewest goals conceded. All without spending stupid moneyRedWeb wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 7:25 am Wild has done at least as well as, if not better than forum obsession Luke Garrard. Re: Who Do We Want ?
Not sure how people can decide that Wild isn’t for us based on one (high pressure) game last night. There’s a piece knocking about which I can’t find now, about Barrows potential new manager and it highlights four or five candidates, their ages, style of play, who they’ve managed, their successes etc etc, it’s a long read but very interesting. The part about Wild says he plays attractive attacking football, which obviously takes into account his managerial career - not one game.
One other point, he was interviewed after the game and when asked where his future lies and does he think he’s taken Halifax as far as he can? His reply was interesting - I’ll take a few days to think about things now.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Wild speculation - typical of this forum

Re: Who Do We Want ?
He’s managed 156 games in his managerial career and boasts a WP of just under 50% and that includes periods at Oldham (in fact he walked out on Oldham turning down a full time job with them due to the current ownership)

Re: Who Do We Want ?
Lest we forget, the same could have been said about Ian Evatt. No managerial experience at this level. Won the NL by default etc etc. He seems to be hacking it quite well in the EFL I’d say. I’m sure there were quite a few Bolton fans who were saying the same thing at the time.
Find it strange that some think that being a successful manager in the NL somehow does not qualify as such in the EFL. IMO there are at least half a dozen sides this season in the NL that would have probably beaten us home or away.

We all know the manager is only part of the solution, he will certainly need some sharp tools in his drawer.
