I agree. Little between the two and one of the last positions we need to worry about. Neither fantastic but both adequate.Broughton Fan wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 10:55 am Don’t think it will strengthen or make us any worse as don’t think there is much between the two keepers apart from the ability to have a decent reserve keeper , think there’s more important parts of the pitch to strengthen

The errors Dixon was making at Bolton were ridiculous. And it was every other week too. Remains to be seen if his confidence is completely shot.

Pete Wild has always wanted 2 good keepers at any team he’s been at to be fair. He likes the competition, from what I’ve heard him say in interviews
Re: Players released by other clubs - who we might be interested in....
Farman is our number 1 for next season and would hope to play a 40+ game season. There’s no way Farman would want to play turns about with another first choice keeper (ie Dixon or any other who would also want to be regular first choice). Therefore a good up and coming keeper who could step in when needed would be by far the best bet for cover.
There are areas on the pitch that need far more attention in the close season. Up front still needs a big physical and strong presence.

I didnt realise u picked the team as well as advised the club on what they should do with HS Jonty.Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 1:12 pm Farman is our number 1 for next season and would hope to play a 40+ game season. Id take Joel back in a heartbeat, comands his area, comes out for crosses, His distribution and shot stopping are just as good as Farmans. If people looked back at the goals we conceded last season, i lost count of ones that could have been avoided with a goalkeeper that actually came off his line. Our defensive record was decent last year, imagine if we had Joel, would have been even better

Just a view like yours and everyone else’s? I don’t think neither Farman nor Dixon would be happy not playing regularly as both would see themselves as first choice.

I couldn't agree more. Farman instills no confidence whatsoever into his defence with his hesitance/reluctance to come off his line. We could do better and need better IMO Dixon fits the bill for me.If Farman wasn't happy with being No2 let him go. Would be another big earner off the wage bill.beachy01 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 1:46 pm

Farman played a huge part in keeping is up.
Dixon isn't good enough and I was very surprised when Evatt took him .

Since when was 3 inches short of 6 feet deemed to be some sort of midget?HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 10:34 am if we are to play a lot more football (which signing a 5 foot 9 striker implies we will) Dixon is probably better suited to that style of distribution

Farman isn't brilliant but why waste paying a high wage for another goalkeeper?, rather spend it 9n another forward.

Redweb asks when did a 5' 9" centre forward become a midget, i think the answer is when Carlisle signed a 6' 9" goal keeper. That's the long and the short of it!

it is - but according to Port Vale fans he's a 6'9" keeper who can jump to 5'6".... and useless at getting down low to save shots.Newbarnsboy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 7:45 pm Redweb asks when did a 5' 9" centre forward become a midget, i think the answer is when Carlisle signed a 6' 9" goal keeper. Didn't realise that Farman was as divisive an issue as some seem to think. I actually would go with Jontys view in that despite grumblings on the forum I haven't detected anything to suggest that the club do not consider Farman as anything other than satisfactory. So why wouldn't he be expected to be the No1 keeper next season? Wild wont have had much of an opinion on Farman and come to think of it why on earth would he be particularly besotted with Dixon either.beachy01 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 1:46 pmI didnt realise u picked the team as well as advised the club on what they should do with HS Jonty.Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 1:12 pm Farman is our number 1 for next season and would hope to play a 40+ game season. This feels like a story that might have more relevance to members of the forum than it would elsewhere. But I suppose time will tell.

I think any manager should be looking to improve all areas of the squad, including the goalkeeper within the budget. A good goalkeeper is fundamental to the success of the team, not just in terms of making saves and coming for crosses, but in instilling confidence in the defence as a whole. People talk about the importance of 'the spine of the team'. At the base of that spine is the keeper.Broughton Fan wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 10:55 am Don’t think it will strengthen or make us any worse as don’t think there is much between the two keepers apart from the ability to have a decent reserve keeper , think there’s more important parts of the pitch to strengthen

But no club in EFL2 has a budget to improve all areas in a team and goalkeeper is a long way from being the highest priority area needing improvement. I'd say full backs, central defenders, strikers and wide players are all a much higher priority than goalkeepers.Pastor wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 12:09 amI think any manager should be looking to improve all areas of the squad, including the goalkeeper within the budget.
