I see Luke James has left the club. No matter what you thought of his ability he always gave 100 percent.

Am I right in thinking Mark Cooper gave him a one year extension before he left. So if his contract was going to now run out at the end of this season that would have resulted in another costly pay off for the club.

I think we were all a bit surprised when he was offered a new contract. Genuine player, always gave 100 per cent, one of the 'defending from the front' types, too similar to Josh Gordon really. I can't blame him for seeking new pastures as he wasn't going to gte much playing time here. Thanks for your efforts and commitment Luke.

This lad has taken some stick on this forum over the last couple of seasons. And yes, I do happen to agree that, overall, what we've seen from him in those two years tells me he's not at the level we require. I mean, apart from anything else, he just simply had to contribute more goals as a forward player.

But I intend to make this into a positive as he leaves us; I've rarely seen a more honest and genuine player turn out for us and I appreciate that. Yes, I know that is not enough but I'll finish by being deliberately and mischievously provocative and say that if it wasn't for his goals (yes, Luke James's goals!) we might not be where we are now! I don't forget that just a few seasons ago under Ady Pinnock we avoided relegation by the skin of our teeth and much of that was down to Luke James scoring a number of crucial goals that kept us in that league. After that narrow escape came the upturn, the Evatt revolution etc, which leads us to where we are now. Maybe it (meaning Evatt mainly) wouldn't have come to pass if we had dropped down a league? So massive, massive thanks to Luke James and all the very best for whatever happens next.

yep - very good summing up - didn't score many on his return, but can't be faulted for his effort - even this season when he played he contributed - just look at the Barnsley game - didn't score or look like scoring - but set up the Goals for Glennon and Josh Kay.
