Do many people really choose whether to attend an away game based on the quality of the away section? Always find this notion baffling, you go to watch your team on the pitch and to some extent have the day out accompanying it, personally couldn't give a shit how nice or grim an away section is when I went away.

Been to dozens of away games and tbh distance aside I imagine Barrow would be a half decent away day if you chose to make it so - plenty of pubs within walking distance of the ground, not some half-empty soulless all seater bowl where you're 100m away from the pitch, not miles out of town requiring long walk or taxis... What do people want, pot plants on the window sills and a nice persian rug?

All these things make a good away day, but if the view of the pitch is diabolical ( ie Holker Street) then I do think it stops away fans from going a 2nd/3rd/4th visit.

If that were true logic suggests it really wouldn’t have a baring as those big clubs that sell it out would still sell it out, For every 1 that says fek that I’m not going again as I couldn’t see much there’s another waiting for the opportunity.

Back to the game and what a change from a lot of the games we saw last season; first half was cagey and Bradford shaded it on possession but didn't create anything, couple of dangerous crosses that was it.
Second half they started brighter but we got in front with a good strike from Whitfield who was a livewire and full of running even after 97 minutes. Nice to see us winning headers higher up the pitch too with Brough flicking it on for the assist. The whole game we were a lot more competitive than last season, winning loose balls, headers and Neal covered a lot of ground as does Foley who doesn't play like a 35 year old. Both are decent on the ball and competitive exactly what we missed last year in there. Two poor goals conceded which would be the only downside, Warren culpable for both particularly the second which came from a long diagonal ball from Platt - of course Cook was bound to score it was inevitable. Shades of Hutton the way he lost his man at times and being on a yellow for a long time can't have helped, but early days hopefully he'll improve. Otherwise we generally looked solid and exciting going forwards with moving the ball quicker and Whitfield and Gordon causing problems. Gordon back to the player he was at the start of last season and I've always liked him thought he got a bit of unfair stick at times, probably wont score 20 goals no but if he did would be with us?
Great effort and attitude to keep going until the end as well and nick it with goals from good set play and a returned free kick by Whitfield for the winner.

Bradford will do ok they've some good players but for all their possession didn't create too much and Platt and the other centre back had a torrid time, very shaky. The other centre half Crichlow should've gone for a blatant block on Gordon with no attempt to play the ball, that aside I didn't think the referee was too bad let a bit go in the air but we've had far far worse.

Just nice to see us attacking teams and having a real go, something we didn't do enough of last season but when we do it shows we can beat anyone on the day.
