Sutton v Barrow match thread
Re: Sutton v Barrow match thread
The surnames make it seem unlikely but could Mr Davies be distantly related to Mr Bin Nasser by any chance?
Anybody and everybody makes mistakes but it's hard to accept when a whole squadron of officials get it wrong. They all have a hand in our defeat by failing to spot that the Sutton keeper had a hand in our draw.
They say counting to ten helps you to calm down but so far I'm up to 327, 285 and it doesn't seem to have worked yet. But the positive is that I'm pleased to find my skill in counting-up is better than I thought it was.
Older Barrow fans have probably never shared the aggrieved feeling that Pat Dunne must have felt towards officials since the Big George moment of farce 54 years ago. But maybe we do now?

?? If he stops the watch, it is the same thing as adding on time - the time the watch has been stopped for still has to be played!
Apart from substitutions, the other thing that causes delays these days is the ridiculous goal celebrations. It usually takes well over a minute for the players to disentangle themselves from the group heap in the corner and slowly walk back to their own half.
Re: Sutton v Barrow match thread
Not really the same thing though - the ref that day correctly applied the rule as it was at the time.
Re: Sutton v Barrow match thread
As I said before that is not the point being debated. The point is that the referee added on 11 Minutes of added time. I wasn’t there so don’t know what the fourth official put up, maybe it was spot on. I’m just saying the days of 2-3 minutes at the end are few and far between these days. 4 minutes would often draw a gasp. Now it seems many refs allow for “one more attack”. Think it should be better managed. They make such a deal over certain things yet injury time is soley down to the man in the middle.bluessupporter wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 11:00 am As I said before if that attempt by Rooney had been ruled as a goal nobody would be moaning as it was in the 6th minute of extra time!

People on here blaming the referee ,just watched their manager's interview and he says it was the 4th official who got involved and told him to disallow it.!

Begs the question who is the lead official ? Surely it’s referee then assistant referees and finally fourth official. The Sutton players reaction when it went in should’ve been the give away to the referee. None of them appealed to disallow the goal.
Re: Sutton v Barrow match thread
Likewise not enough of ours questioning the Sutton goal. Even the goal scorer in his interview was waiting for the ref to blow for a free kick. We need to be more vocal in these scenariosMain Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 3:12 pmBegs the question who is the lead official ? Comedy of errors.
Paul Farman way to far of his line which he does quite often.
The players should have had a talk to the ref for the foul on Farman but just accepted it.
Not sure why Rooneys goal was disallowed.
Let's be honest we have more points than we thought we would have, let's hope this narrow defeat spurs us on and we learn lessons.

I agree jonty we've got to intimidate referees in this league, we are far too nice !Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 3:14 pmLikewise not enough of ours questioning the Sutton goal. There was no foul on Farman
Both goals should have stood - Pete wild after the game speaking to me put it down to a mistake and wasn’t questioning it:

Re: Sutton v Barrow match thread
Having seen the highlights, their keeper definitely touched it (you can see it go up a bit), so it should have stood. I am really annoyed, as we should be unbeaten. However, they say these things even up (I am sure this is not really true, but sh1t happens). We lost a point because of it, but if the Stockport disallowed goal had stood (and we did seem lucky to have it disallowed at the time) then we would have lost 2 points - a draw instead of a win.
Let’s beat Walsall on Tuesday and all will be good again - let’s not forget they lost their 100% record in the 10th minute of added time!

Re: Sutton v Barrow match thread
Farmans mistake was he was off the line. The Sutton player did not get the ball and go round him.but pushed him over then got the ball if that happened anywhere else it would have been a freekick.
Unless there has been a rule change of course clear free kick.

It was a foul whichever way you look at it IMO. The ref was consistant in letting Sutton get away with many dubious challenges the goal being no exception

It's the fourth official that decides the amount of extra time as he is better placed to keep a check on all stoppages, for whatever reason. I have seen games with 9 minutes of added time in one half!Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 2:24 pmAs I said before that is not the point being debated..bluessupporter wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 11:00 am As I said before if that attempt by Rooney had been ruled as a goal nobody would be moaning as it was in the 6th minute of extra time!

It isn’t the fourth official who decides the amount of extra time it is the referee. Link belowbluessupporter wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 5:25 pm
