Signed by Cooper as a big signing on a big wage contracted until the end of this season. We need to move him on ASAP.

When he had his number changed pre season it looked and sounded like he was leaving imminently. Probably difficult to shift on big wages. Probs go out on loan to national League again

He's a good defender but needs pace around him. Wild wants 2 for every position so we have 4 natural centre halves with Ellis, but I'm sure his playing time will be quite limited this season

He doesn’t even make the squad tonight even with10 changes. I’ve not seen him at any of the home games in the pre-match warm ups, looks to have been frozen out.

Hindsight has always been a precise science. I think he wanted to play in a precise way, which wasn’t conducive to L2, i.e. slowly and methodically out from the back. It really didn’t work because we didn’t have the players to do it effectively enough. It was dull to watch, and the results, consistent losses, nailed him and the style of play. He lost the dressing room, which is a real failing for any manager and his fate was sealed. Phil Brown was something of a fluke replacement, and thank heavens he didn’t get a the full time job. Interesting and telling perhaps, that neither of them have gone on to manage elsewhere.

I'm sure in next BBC Cumbria pre/post match interview the question can be posed what is Ellis current status with the club to wild

after the end of the transfer window the club will have to do an updated squad list for the EFL matches - let's see if Ellis is in that before jumping to conclusions.
IF he isn't them the club will look to loan him out.

Personally rate Ellis alongside a pacey centre half because when he’s being ran at he can look a bit of a donkey. Apart from that solid. Got a wealth of experience and gives us depth going into a 50 plus game season

Pete wild yesterday confirmed to me that Mark Ellis is still with the club - if he can get sorted with a move then the club will allow him to go, at present he hasn’t got a move sorted so he is still training every day.

I then asked him about if the opportunity arose would he still be part of your plans going forward

His answer to that was that while he’s paid by the club then yes he still has that potential of him being used if needed but he then reiterated that if he could get a move sorted the club wouldn’t stand in his way
