Yep, I'm away this weekend in Scotland and so far have only booked my train journey on Friday. Enquired with Avanti last night and the timetable for the weekend will be released "at some point this week."Lancaster Branch wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 8:29 amIt’s not just strikes that causes problems - Avanti are tending to wait til the Thursday before announcing what service they can be bothered to run at the weekend.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 12:08 pm
Barring any train strikes I haven’t seen announced or anything similar I wouldn’t be surprised if Orient go close to selling out next week
Whoever signed off their resourcing plan needs to be pelted with gravel and hot Bovril.
If you can’t face umpteen hours on a bus, you don’t know for sure if can get there/back and you know the game’s on telly then I wouldn’t blame anyone for playing safe and sitting it out - especially if you’ve done the trip a few times before….which is a shame, as you say, Orient usually bring a decent bunch up.

Avanti's contract is up for renewal. Covid excuses etc, they cannot provide a service that is acceptable. Their contract shouldn't be extended.
Re: Newport Co. v Barrow: Match thread
It’s been debated in the House of Commons and will probably carry on being debated until the contract gets renewed. Then the debate will start again a few months after. It’s like going Full Circle with Michael Palin but nowhere near as interesting.

That said, there is also a rumour kicking around that NR keep cutting the 5.19pm service too which does not help matters.Lancaster Branch wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 8:29 am

If it wasn't Barrow, 'sod it' would be my approach. However, it is Barrow....

recenttraintimes.co.uk is decent for checking on past reliability
There’s no 5.19 service showing on NR’s app - 18.04 is the closest to after full time.

Yes, looks as if NR has eliminated the 5.19 altogether. Really handy is that.

It was taken out when the May timetable came out. Poor move IMO it means football fans who came by train and a police presence hanging around the railway station until after 6:00 pmCubbins Paratrooper wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 10:53 am Yes, looks as if NR has eliminated the 5.19 altogether. Very poor move and it will hopefully be reinstated when the timetable is updated for the winter months. If it is timetabled, it least there is a chance that it will run.

Hopefully our Football Liaison Officer PC Rickie Wallbank can have some influence and get it reinstated for the December timetables update for the second half of the season.Cubbins Paratrooper wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 12:14 pm Very poor move and it will hopefully be reinstated when the timetable is updated for the winter months. Is the road closure at night between 9-00pm and 5-00am and not during the day?Richard Ingham wrote: ↑Wed Sep 21, 2022 11:27 amJust a word of warning guys : https://twitter.com/LeytonOrientSLO/sta ... x8uw6Nq55Q
