We played a possession based game under Evatt and passed it out from the back. He had Hardcastle and white ratting around giving him a free role Much of Pete Wilds philosophy appears to be about winning every second balls. This is not a criticism just an observation but I’m not. sure we have dominated the possession stats in any game this season.Kieran wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 2:30 pmI agree with that in general, there are players more suited to the current style of play ahead of him. The style we play the pressing game and nicking the ball high up the field isn’t Rooneys game. He is a good deliverer of a dead ball but that alone doesn’t justify him starting or coming on any earlier than he did yesterday IMO He is talented of that there is no doubt but unless we change the way we play I can only see limited game time for Rooney

Re: Barrow v Orient match thread
Not just that in the second half we didn't press ! plus gotts wasn't at the races yesterday, our dead balls from free kicks, corners were poor ,I knew we'd miss mccelland yesterday he's very aggressive sometimes our defence yesterday were too stand offish sometimes you need to let them know your there! pity Bennett hadn't been fit yesterday I'd have played him with Gordon out left!Kieran wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 2:30 pmI agree with that in general, there are players more suited to the current style of play ahead of him. FORZA BLUEBIRDS, shame about the result but they are top of the league for a reason , sounds like we gave it a good go unlike the last game I got to see the 2 nil defeat at their ground last season. Fantastic crowd, dust ourselves down a build on from here. Looking forward to getting over for my first game Crawley away.

Biggest myth in the squad (and he’s actually playing better this season!) the way some fans go on about him you’d think he scored or assisted most weeks…..he doesn’t. We’ve scored plenty more this season and what’s his output? 1 goal and no assists? And always liable to a daft cardMain Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 11:01 am Agree with the above. I personally don’t get the big “Kay love in “ with some supporters. He can be a dangerous player and in the first 30 minutes yesterday he was our best player. After that he was pretty much anonymous until the sending off. His inconsistency and petulance leaves a lot to be desired and he does not appear to learn from his mistakes.

PW’s comments, in the NWemail, presume it’s been plagiarised from the RC interview.
And Wild rapped: “Without getting at the officials, they haven’t helped us in any way, shape or form today.
“Orient came and put in a clever performance, slowing it down and breaking play up and you’re relying on the officials to speed them up and they haven’t and again that’s where my anger comes in, I’m angry when what should be getting dealt with isn’t.
“The referee said that Josh has used discriminatory language, but we spoke to their player and he was quite clear that Josh didn’t, so it will go to the FA and we’ll see what happens.
“The officials haven’t dealt with it, that’s why I’m so wound up on the sidelines. As frustrated as I am with my own team I’m frustrated with how the game’s been officiated.”

Re: Barrow v Orient match thread
You are correct but, as one of Rooney's biggest fans when he was last here, I haven't seen anything like the same player since he returned. He doesn't seem as quick or as able to get around the pitch as he used to do in his last spell. Having said that, he hasn't been given much chance other than a few minutes here and there other than less important cup matches. Whatever, our opinions are, Pete Wild watches him in training and obviously isn't convinced otherwise it would have been the perfect time to bring him on early in the second half when we were 2-0 down. Instead, Wild brought on a more defensive midfield player in Tom White. I'd still like to see what Rooney can do in a full match but I doubt if we will see that now unless we have an injury crisis.Kieran wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 2:30 pmI agree with that in general, there are players more suited to the current style of play ahead of him. I agree with both of you. He has played a bit better this season and early on Saturday seemed to be able to go past the full back with ease. However, once the full back read his movement he was anonymous. He does some good things but is very inconsistent and too often loses the ball too easily in dangerous positions plus is always in danger of leaving the team having to play with 10 men.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 7:27 pmBiggest myth in the squad (and he’s actually playing better this season!) the way some fans go on about him you’d think he scored or assisted most weeks…..he doesn’t. Nah, I've seen it back on YouTube and it's as blatant as it was then - Canavan stuck his hand out, and couldn't believe he got away with it.Kieran wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 8:49 amNever a penalty in a million years. If the rule is about arms being in an unnatural position then Canavan's certainly weren't. Hit his arm yes but they were by his side and it was blasted at him from a few yards away.
I didn't think the referee was as shit as some seem to. He let them get away with far far too much slowing the game down and that is a big mark against him, but on the flip side he made it obvious early on that he wasn't going to fall for them (particularly their defenders) going down at the softest of touches when under pressure and allowed the game to flow when that happened way more than most would. One in particular first half when Beckles did it and got nothing springs to mind and Pratley tried it a couple of times first half too ending with him getting booked. Aside from the failure to clamp down on Orient's slowing the game down tactics, I can't think of many actual decisions that he got wrong.
Referee wasn't fantastic by any stretch but I've seen far worse.
Re: Barrow v Orient match thread
I presume Kay (if talks with the FA fail) will be out for 3 league games, Bennett has a few weeks to go before being match fit and apparently Waters picked up an injury in training and could be out for about 2 weeks. Interesting to see who we will play up front or what combination we will use. Presume its an opportunity for Moyo. However is Smales-Braithwaite back with us from his loan period? Whatever happens there are probably going to be changes up front over the next few weeks.

Seems Mr 'Yellow/Red Card' Kay did not deny using offensive language, nor did Pete Wild contest it, so now the truth and facts are out, it shows that 'people like me' did not make a stupid remark, rather it's YOU Buzzard who is the idiot - which makes 2 of you now. I agree that the lad played well for 30 minutes, but if he's not on the field he can't very well continue to put in an 'awesome' performance. I will say over the past 2 years he's been quite consistent.......at securing cards.....with his childish petulance and lack of self-control. This not only lets the team down as they have to play on with 10-men, but it also means that the Manager now can't consider him for selection, at a time when we have at least 2 forwards who are injured.

Moyo and Gordon looked a useful combination on Saturday.
